(snip) We also have another scandal looming with HDMI 2.0 and it's going to be a big one... Since there is no new cable classification for 18Gbps+ HDMI 2.x and all existing CL2 HDMI "high speed" cables are supposed to work, people are in for a rude awakening. I'm finding in my testing that most of the current "high speed" HDMI cables, especially those over 2 meters in length, and even ones that are claimed to support HDMI 2.0, don't actually transmit 18Gbps reliably. The 18Gbps rated RedMere active cables do very well, unfortunately they're only available up to 15 feet right now and older 10.2Gbps active cables are obviously incompatible.
Kinda like DP1.2 cables... Damn hard to find in more than 2m length and I have yet to get any 3+ meter long DP1.2 cables or connections to work reliably at data rates over 10Gbps for 4K...
Dual DP 1.2 is needed for 4096x2160 @ 60Hz when running 10/12 bit. Can do 3840x2160 @10bit over one DP 1.2 connection. IMO, if I'm going to bother with connecting dual DP cables, I'll go with the 5K Dell / LG display and take the extra resolution.
As is typical with EIZO, they're using an LG panel here -- same panel as the 31" LG DCI 4K monitor we're discussing around here. Not sure if they have made any changes or tweaks to the backlight system and the signal path and internal processing is all EIZO's doing. I'm still holding my breath, waiting for displays with DP1.3 and HDMI 2.0 to hit the market and that's probably 6~8 months out at this point.

I'm just about to click buy on the cc318, for color correction and reference ... anyone play with one yet?

Super cool, thanks phil.I've sat down in front of one for about 2 hours. I like it. It's the same panel as the LG 31" (which I own), but with automatic calibration which is nice.
I was not familiar with this, so when i saw the price tag (like you mentioned) from my post systems integrator I just wanted to double check i was getting the right thing.I checked it out at Siggraph. Its definitely nice, and the calibration routine is great. They even have a network/service setup where an admin can setup and deploy calibrations across the network.
It's a nice panel but man you do pay for it.
