Jarred sent me a personal e-mail about the Monstro situation and to be honest the simple fact that he took the time to write me and telling me that he will make it right speaks so much of why I chose this company in the first place. When you bet in your customers and they come first, you have them for the long term.
Honestly there are few companies I can think off that they have such a direct contact with the users.
High end cameras in the hands of many more is what Red has done from the beginning and you are living the effects of it now.Curious what everyone thinks this will do to our market?
Lots of used Helium and Monstro showing up on the market cheap, devalued rentals,
High end cameras in the hands of many more.
Just curious on long term industry effects.

Still have to sell yourself -- the tool is less important than the skill set and reputation.

Entry level RED camera. Just normal Scarlet-W with higher speeds. Just some fantasy here...

I respectfully disagree. In NYU, most of the student DPs have their own camera, such as Alexa Mini and Alexa SXT Plus. In an environment where most student DPs have their own camera, not having your camera acts as a huge disadvantage.

Aside from the Monster sensor, rental houses that dropped $50k+ on the Weapon Helium are now going to be competing with owner operators renting out the same camera based on its $25k price. If you're matching market rates then I have to imagine those will get lower for the Weapon Helium.
One quick thing to point out, the production run DSMC2 coin is still a few weeks out, so for the DSMC2 shipments that go out the door before then, those will come with our PROFESSIONAL coin on the front.
Side SSD module? This reminds me, Brent. Will Epic-W Helium Upgrades to DSMC2 Helium cameras have the "EPIC-W" molded battery module replaced with a "RED" molded battery module?
Side SSD module?
Copy, I meant the SSD module. Thanks, Robert - I'll correct it in my post.
It's not an entirely new body?
Correction: I don't think it is.
Out of curiosity, what do you guys do with the traded-in cameras? A bunch of Scarlets go to the grave and ripped for parts?
Jeebus. That's really unfortunate. At a school no less, if you don't have money to have the latest and greatest, you're put at a disadvantage?
That kinda pisses me off - I get it that this happens all the time in the real world, but at school? Most college students I know are broke, so the people with money will do better in school than those who don't? Wow.
who is responsible for the currency conversions?
It might even be cheaper to buy the exchange in usd and have the camera shipped from Europe to the US and back.
12500 USD is approximately 10500 euros today. 12900 € is more then a 20% increase, that seems a bit odd to me
Uhh… Finance Dept. We do not adjust daily like the market. I am pretty sure we do it every two months or once a quarter.

My understanding based on what Jarred and Brent have said in this thread is that in the case of Epic-W bodies to DSMC2 bodies its the internals and the coin that will be replaced. That's why I'm asking about the SSD module.
