  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

DSMC2 Side Handle

Hi, i never ordered from red page, do i have to pay for The handle now or Just when it is available ?
 
This thing has turned out great. I can verify strongly that it's much, much more ergonomic with this design. I think lighter weight as well.

Good to hear. Something about this design makes me think it will make shooting more intuitive and frequent. A camera that melds with the operator gets used more often, maybe picking up that extra shot or two that you wouldn't otherwise. Looking forward to this!!!
 
Are iris adjustments from the side handle smooth or do they hard-step in stop-increments?
 
it says it comes out in the fall can we get it sooner? Please let me know thanks!!!

Don't have my camera yet but I had to order this. Seems like a must have to me. Coming from the C300 / C100 world for the most part this will have me feeling right at home.

I'll be honest, I'm not a fan. Ergonomics are far better, sure, but it seems to have lost a ton of functionality - way less buttons, no LCD, no hotswap etc. Something like an adapter to be able to use the old side handle would be great, if it's even possible!
 
Jarred, congrats on developing such a sick product. In absolute awe of everything rolling out right now. This new side handle looks like...well like everything else rolling at Red at the moment. Fucking amazing. Quick question to silence a few restless natives, will it ever be possible to adapt the dsmc1 side-handle to the new dsmc2 brains?

Why one wouldn't opt for the new design, other than being impatient waiting for fall, is beyond me. But would be nice to settle that discussion once and for all.
