  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

DSMC v5.2.29 Release Build and 5.3.9 Beta

EDIT: just brought in a clip... and the image is very green. Needs a -10 tint off of just daylight to neutralize. Has the debayer been weighted green to minimize red noise or is that just because I haven't blackshaded yet?

It is 100% necessary to Black Shade after a firmware update.

Normally my screen is covered in white speckles whenever I fail to black shade but even after blackshade I get the same result.

Here is a 7D shot and a Dragon shot. The 7D is neutralish the Dragon is very green.

It looks neutral on the LCD. But recording very very green.

Also here is a screenshot of the LCD vs the R3D.

This is the case in both Nuke and REDCine. Maybe it's the OLPF settings are wrong and defaulting to the Lowlight?

I seem to have hit the wrong thing or there's a bug. After I installed the beta, all the options worked for a minute under tools: exposure, video, focus, edge and gio scope. Now none of them do. In Gio Scope, the f stop numbers come up at the top but the monitor shows the normal image and the histogram goes blank except for a white bar on the far right.

Is there a button to turn them all off that I accidentally hit?

Ah.. I was stupid. There's a check box for "Tools" in the new monitor control menu. I unchecked it when I was playing around. All is good. Awesome upgrade!

amazing.. tomorrow will be beautifull!

Mike P, in the release notes, we indicate if the feature or bug fix is sensor specific. Like for DRAGON only.

I understand you are asking us to be more like "DRAGON only now, but will (or won't be) in M-X (or M) in the future". It really is case-by-case and dependent on a lot of factors. So, yeah, ask the question - if we know, we will say. If we don't, we will say that, too.

Honestly, didn't know (and still don't) if they were for dragon-only, which is why I was asking directly (at least I thought it was).. Actually, the only thing that wasn't clear was your answer... So are these for MX (now or in the future)? If it's in the release notes, I'll be able to check it when I get to a terminal.

The new switchblade firmware makes me think of the old R1 days and the joystick and memorizing all the menu structures in my head. We used to see who could operate the menus with our eyes closed :)

Stoked for all the newness to cascade over me

Ok what's the story with Giovanni Ribisi? It doesn't say engineer on his imdb page.

Could you be a little more vague?
