Thanks RED! I'm super excited that independent display LUTs are working in Epic MX!

I know it's just a beta firmware, but is there any documentation on ACES Proxy? Should we assume that it outputs an ACES IDT for RED in Log space? Is the IDT aimed toward MX or Dragon or is it adjusted per firmware? Is there significant power hit when running independent LUTs?

Either way, I'm pumped!
 
I was pleasantly surprised to find Gio Scope wasn't a Dragon-only feature when I loaded 5.3.9 on Scarlet MX.

However, I was confused by the number of stops still going to 16. I guess I was expecting only 13, given that they represent the actual latitude of the sensor.

At first glance, it seems to be pretty accurate in terms of functionality (color-wise) but I'm not sure how I should be interpreting the numbers.

Am I wrong in expecting a 1-to-1 (or pretty close to it) relationship to the number of actual stops the sensor has? Is this "beta behavior" that will get worked out later?

Wondering if there will be an update to the DSMC Toolkit. Current version is 5.1. Is there anything here that could screw up making pre-sets for the new firmwares?

In future releases it would be awesome to have some sort of icon showing which numbered square represents middle gray. In watching the video it sounds like stop 11 is middle gray for Dragon, but I could see how someone who hasn't seen the video yet on set could easily think that stop 8 is middle gray, and end up underexposing their images by 3 stops.

Yeah, and I wish they had clarified if this was the SiTH OLPF and if middle gray would move down when the LoL was installed.

I believe middle gray will appear at the lame level, the STH willl just be noisier.

The thing that makes me think differently is from the thread started by Offhollywood's Mark L. Pederson from the early days of Dragon when he stated that middle gray moves within a range depending on camera settings. If that's the case, then middle gray is a moving target and intuitively it seems the low light OLPF would surely cause middle gray to move to a lower stop. That's my thinking.
 
Be good to see a test that checks the gio scope against a chart.

Yeah the tools seem to be there in the actual camera to end the whole 13.5 Actual vs 16.5 Advertised on Dragon discussion one way or the other.
 
Because the Gio Scope is based on the raw view the LLO should rate middle grey one number lower (give or take) than the STH OLPF with the same ISO rating applied.
 
Planning on installing the beta build to check out the gioscope on my dragon. Anyone seeing major gotchas with the beta build?
 
Gio scope, very nice and seems to be in line with the test of Gavin on Xylia.
Very nice this firmware;) would be nice in the future to add 3d Lut;)

For users still on Mysterium....

The GIOscope shows the 16 stops, just as with the dragon version....and tapping on each stop does indeed highlight different tonal ranges of the image. However the Mysterium is definitely not 16 stops....is there a 13 stop Mysterium calibrated scale perhaps coming in the future? Or am I interpreting something wrong...

Also....where would middle gray currently lie in the scale for Mysterium sensors?
