  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

These were the first Nikon lenses supported. They've been on the list from the mount's release.
There is a list of officially supported lenses in the DSMC Operation Guide.
 
RCXp Release Build 33 also dropped today; so RC4/DC2 is official.

There's actually quite a bit of difference between RC4 and DC2 with (over)saturated reds on MX. DC2 actually seems to have more colour info/variation (more distinguishable shades of red-orange), but I don't know if it's accurate or not.
 
Anyone have any problems with the side handle and this build? For some reason, with the side handle attached, I can't get any menus on any screen (Touch LCD, EVF, HDSDI). If I power up without the side handle, they show up again. I actually used the red mote to see if they somehow were being turned off as a default, but the option to turn on menus in the overlay just wasn't available in the settings.
 
Has the sidehandle been updated? My camera rebooted not once, but thrice. Once for the camera update, once for the bomb (I think?) and then a third time for the Sidehandle (which was unresponsive before that). Also, fyi, the sidehandle is not hot-swappable.

Aside from that; hold the power button down for 10seconds, which should cause the camera to boot up at default settings next time. Bit of a pain in the butt as you'll have to go back and put all your customizations in (assuming you don't have them saved on a mag), but that should get the menus back.
 
Also, I keep getting an updating peripherals message after powering up after upgrading. The progress bar begins and stays at 50% while the camera just hangs on that screen. This went on for 30 minutes and I eventually powered down. This happens every time I upgrade with the side handle attached. I also noticed that menus isn't even an option in the monitor controls even when I do get them to show up. Are they there for anyone else? My only options are overview (red) and standard (red).

I'm having some of the same issues after upgrade, Did you find a fix for this?

The upgrade worked fine (Without the Side Handle attached) but when I attached the side Handle and startup the camera goes to a 'Firmware upgrade successful' notice and my only option then is to shutdown. Went through this sequence 10 times and gave up, removed the Side Handle and everything works fine again. Tried holding the power button for 10secs/ reset but this hasn't worked either.

Can anyone please help with a solution for this
 
Have you guys tried upgrading (from a Mag with the latest firmware) while the Sidehandle *is* attached (you'll still have to use the brain button to power-down as the Sidehandle will be unresponsive until it's updated).

Remove the side handle and everything is fine, camera boots up as normal, attach the side handle & boot up goes to the 'Upgrade successful' 'Power Down' everytime

This might be an specific issue with the release... Literally sent my side handle and camera in for RMA because I had the side handle firmware update cycle happening on the absolute last beta RED posted last week. Worried we're going to see a lot more of these posts...
 
My scarlet dragon rebooted twice, pressing the shutdown button on the screen because the sidehandle was unresponsive. The last reboot was the good one.

Upgrading to firmware 5.3.29, I noticed that the 1k and 1kWS formats where gone from the menu options.
I mostly miss them as I shoot sometimes small VFX elements and other fun stuff at 400 fps.
I have even used it for tests and proof of concept before we shot it with phantom.


Digging around, I discovered that there is a bunch of 2k formats: 2k WS, 2k 1:2, 2k 3:2, 2k 4:3, 2k 5:4, 2k 4:1, and 2k 2:8.
The last two of them let you shoot 400 fps.

For anyone who cares, here is a list that shows the relation of: format/ fps/ compression:

Not sure if frame rates are any higher with the mini mags, if any one has those and could confirm this, would be great.
