  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Dragon....

Ok...

Lets see what this baby can do.

Will start a new thread in 48 hours.

Cya..

Dun, dun, dun.

I like that Phil's 2.28:1 format offers such a compelling matrix of lens compatibility, data usage, resolution and relatively simple aspect ratio cuts.

FWIW I share the love of 2:1 aspect ratio.

That's a great way of summing it up. Simpler than my crazy babble :)

Lets see what this baby can do.

Looking forward to it Mark. Have fun!

48 HOURS? Can't you give us a little taste Toia? Boot-up, high record, bring into RCX-special edition, hit "snapshot" and post that? No? Ughhh c'mon.

Phil,

I appreciate your work on the Dragon, when do you think you will be able to share some footage and test images?

That's entirely up to Jarred and Red. I'm just doing a bit of testing here and there at the moment.

It's clear though that Dragon is more "out in the wild" than ever and all those folks have been shooting images.

I'd love to put together a small shoot to really test out the camera. I'm going to do that anyways once I have a production model in my hands though. Getting images to play with in the upcoming "Dragon ready" Redcine-X Pro release is more of my interest. The combination of those two things in particular will truly show what Dragon can do.

Are you guys talking about the footage from my shoot? I don't think Phil shot anything on it that day...

I think they are talking about your shoot. We only saw you behind the camera, Phil was showing BTS stuff.

I currently only have 2K DPX versions of the material... Obly Jarred has the capability to deal with the r3ds...

Dragon's Tweaking!!!!!

Dragon's Tweaking!!!!!

Dragon is still at work in progress between hardware (sensor-camera-board) and software (firmware-RED CODE)...!!!???

How long will take time that process...????

Probably til end of the summer... or...???!!!

When we will be able to see something...???

Nobody knows...not even Jim or Jarred...????

ok...

Sneaky bit for you all.

6k via RCX is playing sweet out of my laptop at 1/4 res !!

The 6k images look so fricken smooth... silky and clean.

The difference between 5k and 6k is huge ! ( A good huge) My 25mm looks like a 21mm !! And no Vignetting. (can't say that for my 18mm, but I hardly use that anyway).

We are doing our hard core exposure testing tomorrow and a bunch of night testing.

Today is work flow testing.... and so far so good. :)

When you go from 1/16 to FULL, does that screen just clean up good? How about an export in TIFF.. 4k vs 6k? juicy?! :D

Nice Mark!

I didn't have nearly any time to play and analyze with the Dragon when I had it... I was too busy being a grip/electrician/1st AC/operator/special effects and DP... Literally!

I need another go to just run qualitative tests!

Umm Jarred? What you doing this week at Red studios?

Do some customers have their Epic Dragon camera/s in hand, while we haven't seen any footage from it yet?

"The Dragon is out of the lab and in the hands of trained professionals. So far, the feedback is everything we had hoped to hear."

-minus Mark or Christopher, most of those professionals are probably not going to be around these parts because they are busy testing the dragon for upcoming projects. I'm sure anyone with a dragon is thinking about a project to shoot... footage/samples will come with time. Mark said 48 hrs.

I would describe the current state of things as: Dragon is currently getting field tested.

To quote myself "baptism through fire".

I did the baptism through fire field test.. now I wanna dissect it!
