  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Dragon w/New OLPF issue? (Addressed by Red)

Where is this Steven Soderberh's speech?

All respect Jean: The OLPF/Sensor red dot flare is the tail wagging the dog. If I want that style of flare for creative reasons then that is a decision I want to make as DP. Lenses flare - cameras don't. RED knows this and is working hard to fix the issue. From what I read on this thread - they have it solved.

BTW: according to Steven Soderberh's speech on RU . . . a movie with a $40M budget will require a $30M marketing budget and, therefore, needs to bring in $140M before it is considered a breakeven project ;-)

Hello Symbol!
It's four years that I'm reading reduser on a daily basis (not posting often), but this is the first time I notice that anyone quotes himself and replies!
Chapeau, I like! Cheers!!

THE WINKELS SPEAKS!!

Yeah, sometimes I really post interesting shit that I have to later admire in a bitchin reply. That and it was all topical n stuff since I singled out Toyota as being QC fucktards then a couple days later they get slammed with a record fine for not taking immediate action on a manufacturing defect . . . like RED did by stark comparision. But then you would have to read the whole thread to get that.

Glad I could be #89 for you . . . don't be a stranger around here . . . we miss your voice and insights

OK then, will try to be less shy!
#91, here I come!

I have almost this same issue on my MX.

OK, quick update.

So, our production team, ME's and repair teams are working on two things. The first thing is creating a process you guys can use to perform this with minimal risk of damaging something or inducing debris. All assuming you don't have a clean room in your basement, ha. So, they are testing various methods and off-the-shelf tools to see what works best.

The second thing is once that process and tool kit is mapped out, our tech writing team will create the end-user work instructions.

We will go as quickly as we can to make these available to you - but we want to make sure we give you the best resources to do the job.

Not sure if I missed it - can somebody direct me to said instructions? And if they have not been released yet - any ETA you can give?

Sorry, Tobias, thanks for the bump. We do have work instructions and a kit we can send you if you do not have a service center within reasonable distance, contact us.

Doesn't the new OLPF require a fine-tuning between OLPF and sensor?

Elsie, this is merely give customers who need to flip their OLPF a means to do so in the field if they are not able to get their cam to a RED service center. This is different than the prior gen versus new gen OLPF - that we do have to do at RED USA : )

Ah! Got it. Thanks.
