  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Dragon in Sri Lanka

What is the DR of the human eye?

The human eye is a masterpiece of creation (accidents this good don't just evolve  ), able to dynamically capture 24 stops, and statically, about 10-14 stops.
The 24 stops comes from the brain's ability to merge the input dynamically, almost like an on-the-fly HDRx... at least that is my synopsis of this article.

This site is a great place to learn about the principles of image capture. http://www.cambridgeincolour.com

I liked it when Mark T said of Dragon: "It captures what I see."

This is also an interesting read :-)

I will try to post some images tomorrow. It's nearly 3am here.

One note: On Epic MX, I never really shoot over ISO 1000 in extreme low light. With Dragon it looks like that number will move to ISO 2500, or maybe ISO 3200.

The dynamic range is stunning.

That is exactly what I wanted to hear! :)

We are gonna try to shoot a side-by-side test with Epic MX tonight. Just something to show the basic differences. There are no restrictions on me regarding what I can post.

cool man, thanks for your time.

You know what I'm talking about so why ask? you tell me what's the difference BTW a soft focus and a blur in the shot

soft focus is out of focus due to the lens, blur refers to motion blur due to motion and shutter speed, shallow depth of field means a narrow focal plane with more area out of focus.... If your going to nit pick something at least understand the terms and their effects on the image...

Thanks Tom, much appreciated.

I would love to see the dragon used in the night at 16000 or more. Not sure what is the maximum ISO ability of the Dragon. The ISO 6400 posted by Mark Toia was nice.

Wish someday the current crop of cameras have sensors so sensitive that I won't need to shoot with Infrared cameras and IR lights.

For The love of god..... Please don't let this thread flame out........ Mark, you all are confusing the hell out of each other. Start a new thread to discuss please. This is Toms thread about his experience with the dragon.

I think I better understand the circle of confusion now.

Yikes...can't let that be my last post with that number.

No rush, but hurry Tom, the natives are restless. :)
