Great summary of my experience too David. I am slowing moving PL and the new Shneiders will be my first set.

I don't know if this is true for Canon, but Nikon-mount lenses come various levels of support for the Nikon protocols. I have been hoping for some guidelines to help figure which might or might not work, but nobody at Red has been able or had the time to give that sort of guidance. Or maybe it's just not possible. (Nikon is like Microsoft, in that backward compatibility is given high priority, but it is a hard thing to maintain. I'm sure that makes things complicated.)
In any case, I believe that one clue to lenses that might not work is the number of contacts on the lens. I think that fewer-than-normal contacts indicate less-than-complete support for the protocols, and that's bad news. Both my Tokina 11-15 and Nikkor 10.5 have fewer contacts than the other G lenses.
+1 please!!!Canon 24-70mm MK II.

Canon 24-70mm MK II.
You can easily calibrate the 24-70mk2 at all focal lengths.
See pages 75-81 of the"RED DSMC OPERATION GUIDE" (LENS CALIBRATION).
There are two models of the Tokina 11-16mm, the DX does not have an internal focus motor, the DX II does. Aperture control should still work for either.
So, they'll be more expensive than the actual RedMags ? Will these new minimags be replacing the actual Redmags, or will they be co-existing (like Redmag mini for the high-end and "old" Redmags for standard use) ? Will there be an adapter to use Minimags in the "old" modules/readers ?Disregard those prices... those are for the slow speed mags that were intended to record 1080p proxy files. The new cards are for the big guns.
A adapter would be nice, but that adds a weak point to the important connection between media and cardslot. Relying on such a adapter on a professional shoot doesn't sound that good to me.Will these new minimags be replacing the actual Redmags, or will they be co-existing (like Redmag mini for the high-end and "old" Redmags for standard use) ? Phil Holland said:but something somebody somewhere will ask, is that if you upgrade to the new MiniMag Side SSD Module and are a Dragon owner does it also get engraved with "Dragon" to help identify what you're shooting with?
The lens profiling functionality is still beta - hence being in a beta release. There are some kinks still to be worked out.
For primes, it should scan through the focus a couple times and that's all you should need. For zooms, there is also the option to improve the calibration by running the calibraiton at other zoom distances (menu->settings->maintenance->settings->lens iirc). Also, you can save and import calibrations to/from SSD for safe keeping. There should be a section in the beta's manual about how to use it.
Why is it so difficult to flip the monitor?
All the other stuff looks amazing but has'nt this been going on for a year?
