  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

DJI Ronin

Hi guys!
I am a gimbal builder, user, so i really interested in Ronin.
But!
someone please show me a stable footage, because all the videos i saw (except DJI original videos)
were shaking. (Small jittets/shakes) i did not see a really, really smoot footage.
ok, if using with a really wide lens of course it looks like stable, but i see on wide lens there is small shakes too.
i am curious how its looks like with 35mm or 50mm .
please someone make a test with closer lens, because i really interested in Ronin, but right now my gimbal looks much stable than this

thanks
andrew

Andrew - most of my footage in my first test video (that was shot on a beta without any tuning - right out of the box) is shot on a 35-105 zoom and even has a shots at the tele end (105 mm).
By all means feel free to post on the forum footage from your gimbal shot on cine-configured RED (add at the very least wireless follow-focus, wireless video, matte-box and a filter) that demonstrates how your gimbal is "much stable" then what you see from the Ronin... ;o)

Amazing. Got word from Productiongear today that our Ronin has just shipped. Hooray. So 'maybe' I was a little harsh on my previous post. Will post some footage with the Ronin/scarlet combo tomorrow. will even try the F5 on it as well (don't think it will work though, but will try)

f5 wont work, we tried with f5 and f55, but with proper lens and wireless focus etc its to front heavy;) maybe you get it to work, but only with a very smal lens.

As Nosa and I have been discussing in the other thread, the F5/55 balances fine with a Zeiss ZF lens and no wireless FF.

I reckon i could probably get my Bartech mounted on there by placing the receiver on the rear of the camera and maybe adding some more weight.

I believe a PL lens on the Sony will require the XL arms. This is where the Epics awesome Brick-like size and weight works really well for gimbals.

I have a prototype of exactly such a mount that I will be offering for sale towards end of this month, early next - so not likely in time for your project Phil. I will be releasing info and tentative pricing around middle of this month.
Please do not push me for earlier release of info / sneak peaks / etc - I have learned from some of the grub buy threads in here about releasing any such an info BEFORE the product is actually ready for the prime time... ;o)

You should have my email Phil - so send me more details about your project - especially the schedule - and I will see if anything can be done...

Thank you Peter. If this project is set green I will likely make one and pick up the Ronin to boot.

yes ok, in that situation it will work. but i personally dont want the power on the handle. also, you cant use the 4k recorder, which my clients wants. and they want a bigger lens with remote FF, and that is just not possible;)

Use an Epic then, much easier in the gimbal.

Great new Nosa - Having not yet ordered from Productiongear, I'd be interested to hear how it gets to you

Happy finally arrived here :)

What is the established price for Ronin rental in EU?

I think it is too early for it to be established. It will also greatly depend on your full setup - both HW/SW and crew.
This can vary wildly from single-op with no wireless video nor FIZ nor camera nor lenses - all the way up to 3-man crew with full wireless FIZ, HD, monitoring, lenses, camera, etc...
