He he... That was the idea... :)

On top of it, it is not really just about price point, once my final in detail review of the Ronin is finished, people will really understand why the Ronin is the best thing to happen in the Gimbal world yet.

Does the 2999 price include the XL arms? Are the XL arms included with every Ronin or an extra purchase?

Still in talks with Willis about this, but at this price point will be asking a lot... :)

Also the XL arms are really something NOT for everyone!!

Btw...

An exciting job is about to take this out for a 5-week spin.

He he, people now will start to get a bit of understanding of what I am talking about when discussing the XL arms possibilities with the Ronin.. :)

Would be interesting to know how it deals with the center of gravity changing when the film mag is 'full' vs 'empty' as the mass of the film roll is going to the back.

I remember 'back in the film days' some accessories that allowed to mount the mag vertically instead of angled to help with steadycam rigs... Can the ronin software compensate for the CG displacement ?

Ordered! But anyway, since these XL-Arms will take some time to hit the enduser, could you test a set-up with an 2x anamorphic lense (Panavision, Vantage, Arri, Cooke). Because this is where I am aiming at and I think it could be hard to get this working with a heavy lens like that and 4:3 Camera (or cropped Dragon).

Thanks in forward.

This is a 235 the smallest and lightest Arri 35 mm camera. small mag and min lens it weights less than 14lbs i believe.

vertical mags do shift the way better for gimbals , but there is still shift, as it shifts the COG of the camera from higher to lower.

they also are taller and a little longer in respect of sizing them in a gimbal, it might be a bit more difficult.

Nice to see a film camera up there, even if its one of the smallest modern 35mm cams.

Yep true the CG still moves vertically and the accessory deports everything to the back making it harder but curious to see it a film gimbal rig without that accessory at all and how well it could be balanced over the length if the mag...

The XL arms might actually become available sooner then later as Accessory or Upgrade... And that is a good news, meaning that they will not take long to hit the market once the Ronin ships... Or DJI could put an extra small team assigned to it if the interest is high enough and push it out much faster or even shoppe din tandem with Ronin orders.

The Ronin's Motors are incredibly strong, and do help a LOT no matter of small shifts during the shoot... Also while the weight will shift form one roller to the other inside the Mag, such is the placement of the Mag in the 235 that there is no real issue on that, as the weight is still in the rear of the camera, and the compensation of the Motors will be for the actual hight of the weight placement, which in this case lis going form rear-high to rear-low or viceversa...

Test-shoots are currently taking place and more info will be made available here in this thread as more and more gear, cameras and lenses is tested on the Ronin with and with out XL arms.

And as if I wasn't already receiving tone of emails and messages all over the Social media networks to test stuff on the Ronin, since the new Price announcement I am been literally swamped with requests, this is great. and I love it, however it will take me a little longer yet to do all that I am asked to do, and we'll try to do as much as possible as to truly bring a as Detail and complete as possible final Review of the Ronin system.

I don't have neither, but I will try to collaborate with some one that does have them and show how is done, via the Easy rig or the likes is very strait forward, as it hooks on the actual Top Arms, if is an Easyrig with a Serene will have an even better stabilization, but I don't know if I'll be able to get my hands on a Serene on this side of th world, I am also possibly to go to IBC and if I do, I know I'll have possibility to have all the toys there, but want to wrap this up much earlier of course.

hi there.

One small explanation.

All similar geometry gimbals , like Movi, Ronin, Be steady, Newton, when needed to operate in follow mode, or magestic mode, or whatever the given name is for he One man follow operation, will need a small bracket , very very cheap, to connect with the hook of the easyrig and the Serene. This is because connecting those rigs directly using the top handle on the easyrig hook, are making TILTING OPERATION harder since they are attached at a very higher point from total rigs COG, and the string pull is just making the tilting process harder.

This bracket is a very simple CF bar and cords that get attached on either side of each handle at the exact point where you would normally use your hands to tilt in handheld mode. That creates a nice floating system, which take full advantage of all the capabilities of the Serene Easyrig combination.

this will be available for all gimbals together with the Serene at a very low price.

As for the Helix it has its own bracket called 4th axis, that does the same job for the Helix and easyrig Serene adaptation, so its there already from Letus.

Kind regards

Thanks for taking the time to clearly explain this Constantine.

A accessory mounting piece to go from the Top Handle or Top Bars is ideal, and there are couple of options out there which is good, I am most positive more mounting options will be forthcoming as Gimbal owners grow larger and larger and the tools Gimbals are used with become more of a regular base use.

Not from the top handle , but from the handle bars.

and we are thinking about a snap off quick release so that one can fast swap and snap on another easyrig in seconds...:biggrinjester:

From the top handle to CarTop Rigs and the likes, from the actual Gimbal Mounting piece when the handles are removed so to be directly securely fixed to Octocopters, Car Mounts, Crane/Jib and other coming Mounting options...

From the actual Handle Bars as also Movi is doing and did a great job with their accessory Rings so not to need to mount directly on the Side Arms either, and I guess offering more free movement and faster omnilaterl set up and movement of the arms themselves...

Now that Quick release snap off I am interested in seen adopted on the Ronin sooner then later...

But I also like very much how the Ronin can detach very fast form its handles and snap in to any other piece of Machinery or gear that is also fixed with an other Ronin mount piece.

The good is that designers as yourself will continue to come out with interesting accessories o take our options even greater faster and easier to get imagery worth seeing...

Yes thanks Ketch, I was only referring to the easyrig adaptation, and not all the other options,as we dont make any accessories or brackets for octas , Car top rigs etc.

As for the Movi , we will be showing a demo with the Movi together with the easyrig and Serene we have been already contacted from them about this.

we are also thinking of demoing with the Newton, as its a fellow Swedish company, and we are also open to demo with other companies on IBC, if they are interested and contact us in advance and in time, so we can set up easyrigs for it.

Letus is also interested on the Serene and easyrig adaptation and we have made the first approach towards that direction.

The Walter Klassen sling shot is another option that we dont make any kind of adaptation.

the bracket Iam referring to, is not good for steadicam either.

Strickly for easyrig and Serene , or easyrig its self.

Kind regards

I also see an interchange of accessories form various manufacturers for various Gimbals, as I am already seen this, and with the Ronin powerful move in to the market with 100's of units about to ship out... And not yet a specific amount of accessories built for, so any one will make use of what is available...

Any ways, if I can make it to IBC, I will look with interest at what is available for the Ronin as far as accessories no matter whom is coming from... :)

Not sure yet if DJI will be there, but if I go I'll bring the Ronin and look to test it out on as many accessories as possible, including the Easyrig/Serene combination, and at last see if the Easyrig is the magic tool or just go to any other Easyrig like tool...

But it is clear, very clear that for all of those like myself that like a full Cine set up Dragon, or MX or Scarlet, it will need some kind of support from above on long shoots, if needed to be hand held like shots, low medium or eye level...

you are welcome come meet us, we ll set you up for a test .

we ll have a few easyrigs different Newton arms as some gimbals are heavier than others.

the Serene its self has o problem to adjust to any loads from 6 -20kg and its on the fly adjustable so no prob there.

Kind regards
