  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

DJI RONIN PRO SUPPORT

Sorry guys - I have been flat out with work and trying to answer all the emails and PM's. If I haven't responded to you within 48 hrs - please re-send again...

On the other hand the DJI PRO SUPPORT for the Ronin has been apparently live for some time - here are the contact details:

- the phone number remains the same, +1(818)235-0789
- the option should be #1 for Ronin Pro Support
- email remains as ronin@dji.com

Still no answer on the Ronin to Lightbridge cable question.

Still no answer on the Ronin to Lightbridge cable question.

Nick, I received an answer from DJI Europe, not a good answer.

They told me to buy it at 1UAS.com, also told me that contact directly with China, and they, may be, send me the cable for free.

I will contact Pro Support before China.
The problem is that 1UAS.com, do not have the cable in stock, it should arrive in 7-10 days.

Peter, there is a way to find the Ronin LB port pinout, so we could build our own?

Battery set up?

Battery set up?

Will this battery set up not work with the ronin?

Finally got an answer from DJI Pro support. Apparently, this cable does not exist yet, and they couldn't give me a time frame on when it will, or the pinout.
When I asked the (very helpful and friendly) support agent how people are using the Lightbridge with the Ronin, he told me, 'They're not'
How is this acceptable? The Lightbridge is not inexpensive, and I'm being asked to shell out $20 for a (non-existent) cable that costs less than 50 cents to make, and should certainly have come with one of those two products.

Nick,

I have been thinking a bit, and there is a way to use the lightbridge in the meantime until the cable is available.

The solution will be using one D TAP to power the lightbridge through the gimbal port, with the cable included in the lightbridge box, and then connect the D-bus of the lightbridge with the ronin to control it. The only problem is that the control cable will be hanging, but I thought that it will not be a big deal.

I will check it today or tomorrow.

About the Lightbridge cable - the latest info is that once they have them made they will be part of the Lightbridge package when purchased with Ronin. Those who bought both products should get theirs free. They are in production as we speak...

About the power - I just came back from the final meeting at IDX. My solution will be released on 09/15. I know how badly you guys need this, but we want to make it right. Ironically the biggest issue is LEMO and their speed of handling orders... :(

I could confirm that connecting the Ligthbridge that way, it works.

Also I get a response from Ronin Support, with a reasonable answer. Ronin needs a firmware update to work using this cable.

DJI Ronin Wobble:
Is it possible to have a breakdown on how to reduce pan wobble?
Such as what variables to adjust to minimise, reduce, even perhaps stop it.
If balance of the camera is perfect then what should we concentrate on?

Should this problem be corrected with:
- Motor stiffness & trim?
- SmoothTrack pan speed, deadband and acceleration?

Any advice on this would go down a treat!

I'd love to know the answer to that question as well, however I believe it is a firmware issue.

Ladies and Gentleman, My intent is not to stir the pot or create drama. However, there was a recent discussion that was started under the DJI RONIN Owners Facebook Page. Ultimately, some of us are experiencing issues with loose handle grips. Therefore, I'm posting this here for a few reasons.

1. To find out if others have noticed the handle grips to be loose and unable to be tightened.
2. To simply educate. Do not place too much leverage and the lower portion of the left or right grip. (I had one snap when changing handling positions. The handles are not solid from bar to grip end. Always hold/grab close to bar.
3. Convince myself that I am the only one with this issue. So I can exchange the defective unit instead of returning it.

I'm really happy with the build quality other than this issue. I'm still working on my own personal resolution. I'm not sure if it will be a full return or some other alternative that I hope DJI provides. Furthermore, I'm not going to post the videos of my issue here. But. they have been sent to DJI and Intelligent UAS.

Thanks you in advance for your feedback and time.

Hey Phil,

I'm not sure if the pan wobble is a firmware issue as some ronins have it, some have it worse, some not at all.
Also, if yours has it, there doesn't seem to be a solution with settings - if somebody finds one, please let us know!!
Until then just try to avoid hard roll moves, or if yours is one of the really bad ones, push DJI for an exchange maybe?

Hey J,

I have noticed a tiny bit of looseness in the grips, too. Not in the clamps that is, but in the handles themselves. But on mine, that is so minor, that it doesn't bother me (yet?).

Frederic, thanks for the response. Hearing feedback from others is helpful. I tried to overlook it as well. Once kitted with a heavier setup such as a loaded up red or bmcc it's less noticeable. However, when my grip snapped I couldn't believe it. This is when I realized the reason as to why they were loose. I'm glad to hear yours is ok. However, I can't stress enough that you make sure to grab the handles high towards the bar base.
