  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

DJI Ronin-MX

Björn , I hope this is ok with you...
Love this setup. Just 2 cables and off you go. though it seems there's no wireless video attached.

Wireless bolt is caked on under the swing with two cat stranglers. We put it there or flat ontop of camera by the fans depending on lowered or raised camera / due to the weight of the lens. and we feed it power from the tap on the ronin or from top of the vlock module.

I also got a dtap female coming from the back of the west reaching in over the bar if wanted. That splits up in usb and dtap so iphone can be on charge a camera can run of the battery on the operators back. But thats only needed when doing full day long stuff and you do not want to swap battery every 40 minutes or so.

I from testing this thing alot by my self i also started to use the dji focus controler mounted on the bar. With armourman there is no problem to just stear the bar with fingertips and fiddle with focus at the sane time.

Also I been struggling with different focus setups. All from cff-1 to Fstop wifi /iphone focus to arri's super expansive FF systems. To me the dji focus beat most systens out there as there is no transmitter box the motor is silent, lightweight, small and strong and has zero glitch and the controller is possibly the nicest singel motor controler i layed my hands on and i think i touched them all.

Hi Bjorn,

thanks for spending the time posting this info. Great stuff. I think there are many people right now looking for red ronin solutions where they can shoot for long takes without any fuss.

Have you tried your tiltaman on a normal sized ronin? What weight does it max out at? Looking for some extra support For my ronin / Lomo 50mm Roundfront / DJI focus / touchscreen/ eclipse 500 which is all pretty darn heavy but I love the images. I guess the camera/ lens/accessory weight without the gimbal is probably around 11kg (I really should weigh it). I don't think the MX could take this.

cheers again for your time.

I put my order in direct from DJI at end of May, when it said shipping in 30-40 days from payment. Need it by July 9th. Hoping it ships sooner than later. That amazon listing doesn't inspire much confidence - though maybe that date is based on the backlog of pre-orders from DJI? Who knows.

Just got my shipping order today! Any idea how long their "Ronin - Intelligent Battery (4350mAh)" will power the Dragon with just LCD and DJI focus connected? I don't know how many batteries to order.

DJI direct

too many variables to give accurate# but mine (running on full size ronin (1batt) w/ distrubutor / red epic, 5" monitor, dji follow focus) has been good for 30 -45 min on 1 battery

On Ronin-M, powering the Dragon (and the Ronin) gets about 45-50mins, I'd advise minimum of 3 batteries, but you can go 4

Anyone receive theirs yet? I noticed DJI just updated the iOS app Assistant to work with the MX today so they must be getting close to shipping.

Mine was listed as shipping, early last week but then several days later the tracking data showed that it was still in China.

Direct DJI order here on the first night.

I also have spare batteries and cables on order...over a week after payment and no word on shipping.
