..Some Good News...http://www.dji-market.com/dji-ronin/

Ronin for $4,999 is up on DJI Market which means people will be able
to buy direct from DJI and have it shipped and not have to go through a reseller.

http://www.dji-market.com/
But looks like resellers may be able to sell it cheaper.
As comparison the Phantom 2 with H3-3D gimbal is $979 @DJI but $959 at B&H..Amazon..
So maybe the groupbuy will get a decent discount in the end.

We're organizing an interactive, live streaming online Q&A session between a panel of select RED User's and DJI HQ staff. There will also be the ability for you guys to submit questions in real time.

This will give us all an opportunity to qualify this product and DJI to make sure it is the right fit for our professional needs.

Date / Time TBA. Trying to coordinate the schedules of a dozen very busy industry professionals is like herding kittens ;-)

I saw DJI demo a multi-rotor at NAB that had landing gear built into the copter that would retract or deploy as needed by remote control. Seems a better way to go...

Hi Paul,

Retractable gear have their own set of issues. I have a Droidworx with retractables and they are simply not up to the task. You get vibration when airborne and landing is a roll of the dice as to whether the craft will settle properly or tip over if on uneven terrain. Fixed legs are a much better and more stable solution. Also, no worry about a servo motor burning out.

Let's limit this thread to only that which concerns the Group Buy and the Ronin

When shall we be expected to pay for the ronin? So I make sur to keep funds at the ready :wink5:

According to the video Ive seen with DJI interviews these will be a tad heavy. They say at least so far the S1000 will not support it. The new S1200 coming out will. This news could end up changing in the future. That is what I gathered so far though. HTH

thanks for doing such a great job with this Zeb! Can you make sure this issue is addressed when you have the Q&A session with DJI? Maybe we can get an anticipated weight of the gimbal from them (minus crossbar and handle etc but with their lipo and cabling), as it would be setup for a copter mount, so at least we could compare it to the weight of the current gimbal we're flying (in our case, MoVi). I'm sure we can find someone to fabricate the right mount/adapter with appropriate hole pattern for any heavy lift (in our case, modified Cinestar8) ...

Very Interested. Put me down for one.

interested! Little things like no dangly cables, locking mechanisms instead of screws and rule markings on the side.. seems like a good baby step forwards in gimbal thinking to me.

Paging Demetri,

We need a list update. Thinking we are close to an amazing 250!

BIG DEAL EVENT THIS SUNDAY NIGHT @8PM HST (Hollywood Standard Time)

MARK YOUR CALENDAR!!
I am coordinating a Google Hangout live streaming event to get a panel of select RED Users to be able to fire questions at the Experts at DJI. You will also be able to submit questions via text during the event. This is a great opportunity to see and hear the folks that are behind this cool product.

I will edit this post once I get the sign-on info so stay tuned!

Cool Zeb. Looking forward to it.

We are over 250 in stated interest. If I was DJI there would be a bottle of expensive Champagne being popped right now. The have scored a big one here.

Thank you Jarred and the Landmine Team for making this possible with the amazing vehicle called REDUser.net
