DJI RONIN Group Buy

I would like those who are SteadiCam style shooters to put together specific features they want. Photos and links work best to make sure your important needs are being heard and met. Again, DJI HQ is monitoring this thread and they are very interested in making this a serious tool for Working Professionals.
How about a truly UNIVERSAL Mounting Kit (Steadicam, jib, multi-rotor, car-mount, cable-cam,etc,)? I'm primarily interested in Steadicam mount. Mounting a Ronin in under-slung mode to a Steadicam arm would be very easy. At the NAB Tiffen booth, I flew a MoVI on a Steadicam arm using a very simple "EasyRig-like" adaptor bracket that slipped over the arm's post and clamped onto the MoVI's handle. But mounting a Ronin on a Steadicam arm in INVERTED-mode would be a problem i think. Does anybody at DJI wish to chime in with some plans they might have?

For guys that are interested in this rig to be used on a Steadicam like me. Are you guys envisioning it like a MK-V rotational system? Or more like how Larry McConkey rigged it up on his rig? ( first 5 mins of this video http://vimeo.com/91559599#at=0)

I for one am having trouble imagining it working like a MK-V system since there will be no way to reorient the monitor on the fly. The only way I can see this working is if we mount the Ronin upside down and clamp a wireless monitor on the gimbal handle of the sled. My question is, are we able to use the Ronin in upside down mode while having the camera cradle right side up and set up initial balance that way?

For those of you who don't know MK-V, this is what they look like and can achieve:

Larry McConkey's rig is more of a tilt forward and back kind of rig which I am still trying to wrap my head around.

Inputs anyone?
I love the way McConkey has rigged the gimbal directly to his sled. He seems to be using it like a straight-ahead jib; but it seems that if the gimbal was panned to a right-angle to the sled's axis, it would mimic an MK-V. An alternative to a monitor on the gimbal handle of the sled would be the Zeiss OLED Cinemizer Goggles if there's enough peripheral vision to see where you're going as Chris McKechnie says in this thread: http://www.reduser.net/forum/showthread.php?115184-GROUP-BUY-Zeiss-OLED-Cinemizer-Goggles
My ultimate rig would be a Ronin, mounted on my Steadicam sled, hard-mounted to my HandsFree Transporter (modified Segway that I steer with my feet) as in here: http://www.redzephyrcam.com/Paul_Kalbach_@_ArtichokePro_presents.html

This is exactly why I jumped on the Proline Raven steadicam and Cinemizer group buys as well. I love that modified Segway!

I tried the Cinemizer at the show and quite liked it. However, I can't say I'd still be functional operating my Raven rig + Ronin while running blind with the cinemizer... lol. I can only imagine how funny I'll look while trying to walk straight with all this. :smilielol5:

A couple gimbal manufacturers have created support systems like that, that will hold a large amount of the weight.

So...back to my original question. Can the Ronin be mounted on a steadicam sled in the reverse orientation while having the inner camera cradle operating right side up in a U shape instead of the n shape?

This is the question that I posed to DJI in post #461 of this thread. Every time I've seen Ronin in inverted mode, the camera cradle has assumed the "n" position. I would think that could be over-ridden through software or by simply rotating the tilt motor 180 degrees with remote control. Of course camera would have to be mounted with optical axis in reverse. Since the Top Handle Bar has a quick release, it could be replaced with a bracket that has a receptacle bearing that would accept the post of a Steadicam arm; or another bracket that would allow mounting to the dove tale on a Steadicam sled if you want to do the McConkey thing. Here's hoping to hear something from DJI on this...

Hi Im intersted...losing the will to live on my besteady order

I signed up over on the Steadicam Forum to try and gather insights from this important segment of Professionals. Any other forums or Steadi resources you guys can recommend?

BTW: already getting PM's from that forum stating "Interested" :-)

Update:

We new have over 230 "Interested" - hoping that DJI is warming up those machines!
