You all have the absolute right to be sad and frustrated over the delays. It really doesn't matter that I posted "Everything in life changes... including our camera specs and delivery dates..." at the bottom of every post. We did post a schedule, tentative or not. We all made plans based on this hopeful schedule. I am frustrated. I am embarrassed and I am irritated that it has taken us so long to get the job done. I should have known better. This is a helluva challenge that we started from ground zero. I was nuts to think we could do it properly in this amount of time, let alone several months less.

I can only hope that all the waiting will be forgotten after all our customers get their cameras. Please take solace (I do) in the fact that the camera does things no other camera can do. It is priced to get in the hands of many. We are listening and have changed our program many times based on feedback. We are replacing cameras with better ones at no charge. We have including a free professional app at no charge. We have full Apple support. And we have real intent to deliver more than we promised when you placed your reservation. We will do our best to treat our customers as they deserve. No one is just a (serial) number at RED. Ask 1-100.

I encourage any who are frustrated to set aside one full minute to swear at us, kick the table, or whatever else you need to do to vent. Then come back and join the RED club with a clear and positive purpose. Life is a long road.

well said - i am back from hospital after kicking my table - now we have new hope !

I do not think that you should be so hard on yourself about this at all Jim. Getting something done right is far more important then getting it done fast.

I have to say I am a little skeptical of the mount as I am well aware of the extremely fine tollerances needed to pull it off so I sure hope it is refined to perfection. Also I trust the sensor protect black line issue is resolved with the new cameras.

Looking forward to getting mine.

cheers

This mount is magic.

Jim

I also did my jumping and kicking around. But I'm back here hanging around with you guys. Still the place to be.

Jim, you and the team are almost there. We all know that.
If you would be talking about months I would panic but we know it's a matter of weeks. The last steps are always the hardest.

I bet in half a year nobody will talk about it. Everybody will be out shooting and smiling.

I keep my fingers crossed and wish you all good luck and strength to get it done.

Cheers
Tim

I love it. You know what, if you tell me the ETA on the 50-150mm I will stop bruising myself on this table.

Otherwise I'll be back in the Red club by the morning anyway, after I've raised another $XXXXX to deal with this.

I can only tell you what my experience is. I have the new mount, old IR/LP filter and old DSP but new firmware (Build 11). I could live with this camera forever without one more change. But I will get the conversions done this coming week because I know how much better the image is. I've seen it.

We are almost there. I know that for sure because Sony is back at it trying to block RED from being used on Sony Pictures movies. It really is quite flattering. The DPs are getting quite a kick out of it. We have to thank Sony for helping us market our program... I guess that is another story for another day.

Jim

Keep going like this, you will always have my support for what you're doing. The wait is worth and you are delivering. No vaporware.

Now i have to find something else to go for new years eve...

I am sure Sony is scared to death. I recently saw the 1080 version of the trailer of Youth Without Youth, filmed with a 950 and it looked really, really bad.

I have both feeling of patience and sometimes do get frustrated of the wait altho mine is next year. What haunted me is actually the unknowing position of where we stand. If delay, delay for how long. But as you said jim, you're going to post your next batch schedule on January, so i will see. I'm not going anywhere and will still here.

I'm going to the hill shortly and will scream out loud (and hopefully don't get caught)

Regards

mr. Jim, you don't have to appoligize, You've done everything you could by now
, and a very promissing future is on the way for us all. You made wat everybody
seemed to find impossible to do so quick. If you wouldn't have come up with such a nice system , we still would depend on the very expensive, indie unreachable sony or other systems... and maby some of us wouldn't ever own one of these to shoot.

i am like jim in so far as the camera that is in my hands is an incredible machine that is making lots of people happy. i am not saying it is incredible because it is my hands, quite the contrary, in the hands of the professionals that have used it, it has performed amazingly.

thank you for pushing harder and harder.

...I was nuts to think we could do it properly in this amount of time...
Jim

fortunately you're nuts, otherwise there would be no revolution! I'm patient (strangely enough, patience isn't my strenght) and really pleased about the way things are going on.

Rock on. I no longer have any idea what kind of frankenstein's monster of a camera I'm going to get... but confusion is a perverse joy.
