  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Not to mention the I/O data rate - I posted a couple weeks ago that, in my opinion, it's going to take years before optical media can be read at such a high data rate. It's one thing to cram all the bits onto the plastic but anothr thing to read it all back fast enough to maintain a 30FPS video signal.

And that was the allure of RedRay - it's not just a playback unit but a real-time playback unit. Now we could approach those crazy read speeds with solid state media....

The Red-Ray is not meant to play "natively" all RED resolutions. It is meant as a 4K playback system that will hook up to now common 4K display/projector solutions. By the time there are 28K projectors, RED will have the player to match...

My opinion...

anyone else noticing that FMG battery is just trying to raise their post count?

I know, before you say it, that is not what I'm doing here, just getting annoyed with peoples useless posts, we're already past 60 pages.

:w00t: Ahhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!! :w00t:

NO WAY! HAHAHA!!!!! WOOT! This is hi-fucking-larious! WOW!

This is so sick... hehe... no way... PERFECT! I love it.

So freaggin' cool... PERFECT! Perfect perfect... if there are any requests they will only be either super specific to the new modules EVF, LCDs, RedMote and Handle but the brains versatility is SPOT ON... para pa pa pa... I'm f'ing loving it!

Perfect! Things should change very little from now on... And I can't wait to hear all of the other specs! I suppose DR is up in the air as of now... right?

I think 28K at 25fps at the current (RED One) datarates should give you something in the region of 4-5 minutes per blu-ray disc (assuming 50GB disc)

Is "a camera no one wants" a legitimate statement?

I'm sending my Aussie rules football buddies to show you the light.

Dunno where I could've picked up such marketing talk...??

Nobody wants in comparison to an extra $7K and getting the FF35.

Aussie rules football ...you mean those aerial ballerinas!!

Sensor binning.

Or the sensors are the same exact silicon - except the non-select ones are crippled via software.

I threw this idea out last month but I don't think anyone noticed.

Does it make more sense to have, say 12 different sensors, or just 4 but you cripple them in different combinations so you end up with 12 "different ones".

I know it's not as simple as that - a lot has to do with the accompanying electronics - but there's no reason why a sensor couldn't be crippled....

Maybe I'm just talking non-sense now.

David you always have the option of waiting the 6months for Epic FF35 and skipping the S35 for more DR and not worrying about moving from epic s35 to ff35

I'm sorry to report .....

Ok ok - but I do have a valid point - you could cripple the non-select sensors and when enough time passes release firmware that magically unlocks the features and call it a freebie - no one would notice.
