  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

DaVinci Resolve 16.2 is now available

I tried Red Raw in ACES again to see how much work it would entail to get a decent look from Phil's sample image of the female talent next to a Chip chart in three different lighting sources. I guided off the chip chart for the correction. With Gamut Mapping and a few other corrections, it seemed more work than I would give to get the look I got.

Has Face Refinement improved in version 16? I haven't made the jump from 15 yet. Face Refinement sometimes crashes on me or I lose the green tracking points randomly in Resolve 15. I only use this tool when the person's face is not moving too much, otherwise it's a manual job using combo of Resolve and Fusion.

Here is a video about the face refinement tool from a few pages ago. I personally rarely used it. However, it seems like it has improved atleast from how I remembered it worked in Resolve 15.

Anyone have any idea when “16.3” is gonna drop? I think Peter Chamberlin (sp?) said NABish, and a little birdy (*cough*Jarred*cough*) hinted that the next version will have Metal accelerated decompression during today’s Solidarity Series.
