Caught a quick video on B&H about these new lenses on their site. Can't find anything else on em. Anyone have any info about these?

I believe they are the PL version of their CN-E lines primes - to be shown at NAB 2019.

Thanks Jack, so probably the same glass just a different mount. The video made it seem like they were different as it mentions they were designed to be used wide open and something about a "sumire look". Seems a bit exaggerated if the only difference is the mount. I guess NAB will tell us for sure.

Definitely sounds like they have some different things going on.

Canon Rumors mentioned them a few weeks ago and said Canon has reduced the contrast and sharpness compared to the original CN-E primes. I don’t know if that means that they are just “re-worked” CN-E’s or these have been designed and built from the ground up as dedicated Cine lenses.

They're more "cinematic" wide open, and have a PL mount. Price point is higher than the current CN-E line up, but not a huge jump.

Sumire are CN-E with just worse wide open performance with a pl mount that doesnt pass through data. Big flop. And a stupid name. lol

No idea if I like these lenses or not but reading your coment made me think...' A little like any K35 set I have looked at..' (And they often go for about masterprime money... )

I think it is brave for a manufacturer to bring out lenses that don't score high at the obvious performance points... but yes I will be surprised if they do very well.

I would be more interested at this price level with https://www.newsshooter.com/2019/04/04/tokina-cinema-vista-one-t1-5-primes-and-50-135mm-t2-9-mkii/

I welcome any lens, good or bad, into the large sensor glass mix :)

There are a few really great shots Freek did in the Canon Sumire sample movie released today , which just happened to be shot on RED MONSTRO ;)

I do like the look these sumires give, but I am with you all, I do not understand the price nor the lack of lens data.

Everyone knows I love EF mount. And I Love the new R mount even more.. Canon did some really cool things there. These seem to go against that work.
