You're killing me... You're just putting it in the middle of the room and saying...not 'til tomorrow.... ahhhhhh ... I can't wait.

you seem to have a problem (in the good way) with OVER-promising (as in offering more than what we would expect) AND OVER-delivering.

Cool!

Before everyone gets to excited take a good look at Jims signature line below.

"Everything in life changes... including our camera specs and delivery dates..."

From what I have seen red consistantly delivers with they say they will it's just the dates that are not quite right. Thats okay though I'm excited because RED #993 should be in my hands sometime in September 2007, by the way whats the date today?

Wolf has been called a few too many times for me. I am very excited to see and hear about all build 14 and 15 have to offer when they do indeed come out.

Please don't take this as a big Jab red team. Heck I am just finishing up post production for a corporate training video I produced/directed that I told the client would be finished before Christmas (ha). Just the nature of it all.

Finner,
To be fair, Red had already said a couple weeks ago that Build 14 would come on February 1st, so having it come on February 6th is pretty much an accurate delay. The delivery date has ALREADY changed, no need to put that out there.

Our customers have the right to point out (correctly) that we have missed target dates. And we have the right to point out that they have always been "target" dates because we are new at this. My signature clearly points out that dates are somewhat uncertain. We are trying to do better at making our targets and deliver the capabilities we promised. But we are still rookies...

I would far more have a camera and system that is "right" then just "right now". I totally understand things being late and it really does not bother me one little bit. I just no longer get excited when I hear any dates for anything red and instead look at it as that will be great when it happens sometime around that date.

I respect that doing it well comes way before doing it fast. Heck I bet you would very much like to have 4,000 cameras shipped by now as the red bank account would be looking a lot different then it currently does. It's nice to see you are putting quality and the future of red owners ahead of personal $ gains.

It's good to be the King !

Something tells me though that if you set a deliverable 24 hours in the future, you're already done and just need to make a nicely named zip file.

It takes a pretty large unforeseen bug to delay a release less than 24 hours from delivery.

Build 14 has been tested quite a bit. It is in the hands of a few beta testers and we have worked it out pretty well. As usual, we will post it in Beta-build form. But it is solid. Internally, we are now testing Build 15. That should give you some idea that we are finally getting ahead of the game a bit.

Both builds matter.

Jim

Jim, I'm thrilled (as usual).

And I'm really happy for you and all your team.
Seems that all the thing start running smooth and glide...

Your dream it's not over, but you can start sleep a little more comfortable, don't you?

Your, sincerely,
Elcurado.

The future is bright. The future is Red.

The future is bright. The future is Red.

Sounds like Anthony Hopkins as C.S. Lewis in one of my favorite films, Shadowlands:

"The delight that never fades, the bliss that is eternal is only yours when what you want most is just out of reach."

Or Charles Dance's American wife in "Shadowlands play..." Advice to the nurse in love.
"Give him enough to want more. Then dont give him anything until he signs up."

The future is bright!!!!! The future is RED.

- or to paraphrase John Lennon:
"Life is what happens to you while you're waiting for new builds..."

When we got the Build 14 alpha we didn't know what was in there, as it came before the list of features or a revised manual.

As soon as I got into the menu ... I said (out loud) "WTF!!"

Then I thought about out the implications, and I got really excited, really fast.

I can't "spill the beans", but what I can tell you is ... wait to you shoot a scene with "extreme detail" with this build !!

Jim talks about 14 and 15 as "landmark" builds - and what I can sincerely say to that, having tested MANY, MANY builds ... is that 14 really hits home how this camera will never be done. It really can just keep getting better.

And ... (I might get my legs broken for this) .... if you think Build 14 is a Christmas present ... wait till they release RedAert & RedCine with Graeme's a new demosiac ... that is like a glass of fine champagne on New Years Eve ...

Holy crap Mark. I didn't think I could get more excited. It's like getting a whole new camera again..

Red, do we know when the new demosiac is happening? I have 13,000 frames of 4k converting right now, telling me its going to take 8 hours. I could really use those extra 4 hours right about now!

Thanks for rocking Jim. I look forward to firing this up tomorrow night..

Uh oh Mark, I hear the Red copters flying over New York city right now. Is that glass at Offhollywood bulletproof?

Steve
