Build 14... ready?

We are scheduled to shoot the shuttle launch tomorrow. Liftoff is scheduled for 2:45 p.m..

Since the release is scheduled to be posted at midnight is there any chance you could reveal the details. This will be our first shoot with RED #206 so using 12, 13, or 14 doesn't matter in terms of older footage or whatever. But if there are quality or feature improvements then obviously that would be a benefit.

The marketing suspense is fun, but some of us have to make real world production decisions. So already known information about a build to be released in 12 hours would be nice support for paid up customers.

Hey where are you going to be at I am shooting the launch for NBC. I would love to meet up with you out there.

I hear you too about the marketing thing it is getting really old. Why tease it if it is such a secret thing then keep it that way, just release it when its ready.

I had a dream last night that Build 14 has a blur-free digital image stabilizer. Looking forward to seeing what's actually on offer.

Hmmmm - interesting. With that 4.5k 'look around' area you could do something like that, given enough processing power. Does anyone know if digital stabilization simply uses image processing or if it requires accelerometers to know how the camera is moving?

Build 14 brings back Jesus!

That's what marketing is. Look at the success Apple has had with this strategy.

I was going to say apples and oranges, but I guess that would not apply here it would seem Red is looking to market to consumers. So you are 100% right!

OK... we'll stop talking.

Jim

No Jim, talking is good, teasing is bad:tongue:

If I have to start paying attention to what I'm saying... I need to retire.

If the "hype" is irritating to you, I suggest you block me. Sorry, that's just me.

Jim

oops... here it comes!

Jim

Heh, it would appear I beat Jim to announcing his own revolution by a minute.

I guess it is no longer a "tease"...

Jim

no "New Firmware" message came up..
it just boot up in normal mode.

Did you format your CF card first? Did you go to SYSTEM > SETUP > MAINTENANCE > UPDATE SOFTWARE?

Don't pay attention to what you say. If I/we get crabby, it is here and gone. We still love you and your camera.

Jim:

3K is a very interesting addition to the lineup. You can shoot 3K, 60fps at 36MB/sec to CF or RED Drives.

This is pretty cool stuff.

Jim

3k is cropped.. a 3k sensor extraction.
Resolution for 3k 2:1 is 3072x1536, and 3k 16:9 is 3072x1728.

So is the Shuttle shoot on a 400mm-600mm beheamouth? I'd be nice if 14 was out before Feb 26th.

Testing Canon EOS mount. I have a Canon 70-200 2.8L IS and a manual Zeiss 300mm F4 Contax/Yashica mount with a C/Y to EOS adapter.

So should I try 3K - 60 fps?

It would make the 300 more like a 400.

This is my first shoot with my camera, since Erik at Birger has had it since the day after I got #206 a few weeks ago - so I don't even know what our top frame rate is for 4K - is it still just 24fps or do we have 30?

As I said before, this isn't a paid shoot, so we are willing to be a little bit experimental.
