  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Yes I formated it before I copied the folder over.
it's supposed to detect it automatically.
but I also did it thru the system menu and it says
"No software update is available on your system."

anyone else have this problem?
???

So should I try 3K - 60 fps?

It would make the 300 more like a 400.

Yes, like having a longer lens, but at a lower resolution and narrower FOV.

4K still gives you the most image to work with to crop or scale in post. OTOH, that 3K sure looks real nice too, still very high rez. Oh, and 60fps... 60fps But that's 2:1 aspect, not sure you want to shoot it 2:1 :)

ok I got it... you have to unzip the Upgrade.zip file twice.
after unzipping the first time you'll have another Upgrade.zip file along with two other files, a pdf doc and a txt doc.

you have to unzip the Upgrade.zip the second time and drag over the Upgrade folder with the su.tar file inside. This is the folder which is required at the root of the CF card or hard drive.

;-)

some questions I have about the update b14:

it states in the readme.txt file of the known restrictions.
Does anyone know if these are only new restrictions for build 14?
do some of these features work fine in build 13?
for instance 4k files crashing Quicktime - did this ever work?

--------------------------
Known firmware restrictions for Build 14, RED ONE v2.0.2

* Audio playback in RED-ALERT and RED-CINE is not enabled.
* Changing resolutions with VARISPEED enabled causes image tearing
* Look File menu in place but not enabled for file SAVE / RECALL
* 4K 16:9 recording not yet supported by RED ALERT or by QuickTime Player.
* 4K _F, _H, _M and _P QuickTimes created by camera may crash QuickTime Player.
* RED-LCD plus Preview HD-SDI monitor output simultaneously active not supported.
* RED-EVF, RED-LCD, Preview HD-SDI, HDMI simultaneously active not yet supported.
* Dual Link HD-SDI outputs always replicate 720p PREVIEW or PLAYBACK HD-SDI signal.
* Audio and Timecode not present in HD-SDI outputs.
* Use meter reports in minutes rather than hours.
-------------------

it would be nice to know what issues were known and fixed in each build not only changes.
most of the listings assume you know what the original problem was and is now fixed or is it a new working feature?

You are right, too many zips. Fixed so you have the entire upgrade package as a zip file and it has no further embedded zip files...

Can we install from an SD card?

Can we install from an SD card?

Did you format your CF card first? Did you go to SYSTEM > SETUP > MAINTENANCE > UPDATE SOFTWARE?

BC

Can we install from an SD card? Or does it have to be CF?

If CF can it be an old small one?

3K works fine in all our post production software. Audio, 4K 16:9 and the new _F QuickTime wrapper are not yet supported.

Anyone know what the RECODE 36 Compression Quality Setting is?
