Since RED is making that handle, I won't copy it. It is compatible with my top plate or you can slide or screw any handle you'd like onto the sidearms.

The battery plate will be in IDX, Anton Bauer or will allow you to use your existing battery plate from your R1 with a LEMO adapter to save money. There will be normal "dumb" versions as well as "smart" versions with accessory power output.

Don't worry, all parts will be available in appropriate volume. We're still cranking out top plates left and right, but they are in stock. The rest of the stuff is coming very very soon, I'm at FedEx's mercy.

Based on my understanding the Ms and Xs are the same size. It would make sense for them to be the same size. We won't know until we know though.

Just to showcase how well done this top plates really are... ;)

Brook,

It is just amazing how great your top plate works on our little 2D Epic here on Spiderman. Now I want the bottom plate and the side rails.... And I want them NOW brother!!!

Your friend on set,

Peter

Well....i'll know early next week based on drawings for epic X vs. M Was told that M was a half inch larger....not sure what dimension that referred to.....but i'll report back after checking M with the machinist and his cad drawings of X.

So the Epic X is smaller again!
Cooool!

Got you on the RED side handle. I'll wait for that.
Your cage rocks. Your EVf brackets rock.
Next to the new FCP coming out and a bunch of Epics and gear being delivered, this year is going to be an everlasting Christmas day.

Thanks Brook, consider me a solid customer.

It is not an Arri rosette, it is RED's own [matching the Clutch].

Boring!

Allstar makes an Arri rosette that goes onto the old Red handles, replacing the old Red Rosette. The teeth in the new Red gear look different, though ( more like Arri's). Hopefully Allstar's rosette or something like it will be able to attach to Red's new parts.

Heheh, don't worry. There are perks to having a giant bitchin' auto-late that'll crank out rosettes all day long. Expect all sorts of fun rosette toys coming soon... :)

Is the lightweight 15mm rod adapter screwed into a custom Epic Mounting Plate or to a standard Red- brand Epic Mounting Plate?
Or is it all one part ( 155mm adapter and mounting plate together)?

Hi Brook

Craving the accessories! - Although IDX and Anton Bauer are widely used - In the UK (and Europe I believe), PAG also are widely used. Any chance you could add threaded holes for their plates too without adding significant cost? Sure I could make my own holes, but I'd rather not have to drill into a new battery plate!

Thanks.

I'll look up the PAG dimensions to see if I can simply add the holes to the battery plate. If there's enough demand, I'll certainly make PAG plates available.

Mark, the "camera adapter" part you're seeing to interface with the DSMC quick release sliding baseplate is a custom part that I am making [which enables interfacing with the 15mm lightweight adapter]. In other words, it replaces the RED Epic Adapter plate with a different version that I've made which is designed to work with my 15mm bracket.

That's brilliant Brook. If you have trouble finding dimensions, let me know, atlhough may be simpler to ask PAG (http://www.paguk.com/aboutcontact.htm) nicely (- I'm sure they would be happy to be able to sell more PAG batteries!)

Are you sure you aren't thinking of Jim's comments that, after an early protype run of Epic's that got some field use, that 13mm of length was being added to the Epic bodies?

That change was for all Epics as far as I know.
