Thanks peeps...

We were going for something much more gritty, real and narrative based and the mixed bag of lenses was part of that rawness factor, as was the lighting approach.. Now I have to make a disclaimer in that what's being posted here is the label's official release of the Britney Spears, "Perfume" video, which was directed by Joseph Kahn. And while I am happy with the work and overall look of the video, this version of the video represents about 1/2 of what we shot. There is actually an online petition to have the director's cut released, we will have to wait and see if that comes to pass as I'd love people to see the more dramatic narrative story-line that was excised for various reasons out of the video. That version is one of Joseph and my best videos to date.

For those curious, the "petition" is here:

Cheers all

First off, nice work Chris, Joseph, et al.

One thing I think this piece shows well is how well the Dragon allows you to retain subtle gradations in luma more like a log image, yet still have enough contrast to have some "balls".

What I'm getting at is that I often find myself in the last stages of a grade fighting to preserve subtlety, detail, nuance, etc even when the desired look is contrasty. The one opportunity I had to play around with some Dragon footage, that was so much easier to do than with Epic MX, F55 or Alexa material.

Would love to hear from the colorist about their impressions and if they're seeing what I am.

Makes me even hungrier for the Dragon optimized color science...

Funny, if you look hard, you can tell there's stuff missing. There are entire setups that come and go, makes me wonder what other moments were caught then. Either way video looks great. Stands on it's own!

Congrats.
