  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Black magic 8K Decklink Pro

If the Japanese list price is 75,000 yen, then that would equate to roughly US$650.00 or so.

I would love to see what hardware specs Blackmagic is going to require in order to run Resolve 14.2 in real-time 8K with an 8K display. Me personally, I think it's totally nutty, but can't dispute that it makes sense to shoot in a big format and extract to 4K or 2K.
 
It was a good guess since its now listed as 645US$ on the black magic site. What monitors can connect to it? Wouldn't it be great if they added a hdmi port aswell if you just want to output 4k to lg oled. Seams you can only use this with a few monitors.

Threadripper 1950x + 1 NVIDIA Quadro GP100, 16GB (or 2 x VEGA FE).
 
Sweet we can hook these up to the 8K SDI monitors that don't exist.

DR WHO: Sorry the tardis door was jammed. January 2018. Ikegami 8K SDI and other 8K related things from other companies too. Got to go. Time keeps moving forward.
 
Capture over SDI (Ikegami, Sharp, Sony, Canon, etc....) display over 2 DP ports from your GPU to a dell 8k monitor.
 
Black magic and the others need to hurry up and find something else to focus on then monitor boards I think. As of now they can still do it as the video cards does not output 12 or 16bit. when that happens then the whole thing with having a specific video board is just part of the history.

I think you are.... partly right.
You need output and a metadata-replacement.

It's not hard to guess where this is currently going, and it's most likely not HDMI or SDI...

But it's not like we haven't seen that already*


The issue is that we'll have a few years of hybrid solutions before everyone has changed everything.

It's not only about the bit-depth and resolution.

But of course the manufacturers love the turn of the cycles, and I do happen to agree with Phil (I think) that something like 16k/24 bit is where we will see the same relative peace and tranquility we see in the audio department.
