Birger Lens Mount Reservations

The box of chocolates was on the agreement. Now we are talking shipping...
Erik, is this really true? We are actually shipping? Must have been a good meeting. Be good to hear the outcome.

Michael, (AquaVideo) how did you pull this i-cable out when the some of these 8 screws are stuck right above the 1/2 circle cable run on the front plate.

When you open-up the adjuster ring to take the front plate and the outer part of the adjuster out, looks like the i-cable will be still trapped in there, between the front plate and the place where these 8 screws goes into (the top base)

Looks like you have to cut off these i-cable then?

Mount comes in two pieces: lens mount, adapter for RED camera.

The first is a new and improved design, and also where the surge current fix was implemented. Starting yesterday, we are shipping this as a drop in replacement for the existing product. We were in serious testing of this for the past three months, and have over the past few weeks determined all is frozen. Production over the past few days has been about 50 units.

The RED camera adapter did also go through a small change to make the LEMO pinouts match up with the AUX12V pinout on the camera - so there is no risk of plugging the cable in the wrong way. There is only one unit of this that will ship today, and it is going to RED. We will let RED have a chance to review our documentation, verify that we implemented the fixes that they requested, etc, before we actually start shipping. I expect Jarred will have more to say about this after he has had a chance to open the fedex package from us, and play a bit.

The way this is going to play out from here: I will send a package to Jarred, and I will go dark until RED is happy, and announces the same.

The LEMO pinout change will effect the circuit boards for the knobs. I will not have another knob update until the RED/canon mounts are actually shipping to customers. And, I believe as of yesterday afternoon, Amy has us completely caught up on customer communications.

Are you saying you shipped the new mount to Mike yesterday?

What do you mean by "all is frozen"?

50 units in a few days sounds good. Assuming Jarred approves the changes this weekend, how soon can we expect to have our mounts ship?

Thanks Erik -

OK Jarred - all eyes on you.

(chocolates... chocolates.............. chocolates)

Thanks, Erik. Will you be working on the knobs in the meantime, or do you have to wait until RED approves the mount hardware?

guys saying chocolates too many times.. makes me feel weird. whats next icecream.. to help you cope with the stress.. then maybe a pj party?

Hello Erik,

Just to be clear, do these two pieces sit in front of the RED PL mount adjuster?

If yes, will the Canon lens' backfocus be set (if need be) with the RED PL mount adjuster or with the Birger mount using the program you developed?
Thanks.

Brian

In case anyone is wondering... the P+S technic mount came in, and it has no allocation for the /i pin cable whatsoever, so they are going back to the drawing board to resolve that issue.

As of right now, the P+S adapter defiantly voids the warranty, as the only way to make it work is to actually cut off the /i cable.

Jarred, just checking here... do you really mean "defiantly"? Or did you perhaps mean to write "definitely" instead?

Big difference...

:umm:

heh heh.. spell check did that, should be definitely.. but its pretty funny what it corrected it too...
