Birger Lens Mount Reservations

almost there guys....
Thanks for your care. These are definitely good news. Do not forget: this is your work too. Without you as webmaster, no RED project, Birger tool either.

E. :-)

In case people aren't aware, you can use the Birger mount on other setups. I for one will be using it with my Jvc HD200 +Brevis35 while I wait for my RED One. The Birger mount is not limited to be used only with the RED ONE. Heck, you can use it on any camera that'll take an SLR lens mount.

That's good to know. I have a jvc hd100 and wondered about this. Maybe work with the LetusAdvanced and EX1 too?

Jarred,

You make this happen next week and I'm sending you a box of chocolates.
That is, uh, a macho box of chocolates.

Scouts honor.

I'm sending a box of chocolates. He seemed to like that. I think we should all send chocolate.

.....Anybody else out there gonna pony up some reward to Jarred if he gets the the Birger certified by next week?

I'll chip in some silk stockings, perfumes, bath salts - macho ones of course.

Alright, maybe Cuban cigars, a roundtrip ticket to Bangkok for a long weekend, - what's it gonna take?

Maybe just a pretty please?

And so...

as the story goes...

hundreds of doorstops and paperweights...

all over the world...

will suddenly start taking pretty moving pictures!

And they'll live happily ever after....

:sorcerer:

Tico.. if you call the RED ONE camera a doorstop one more time.....

Thanks to RED's efforts things are moving forward... sixteen months ago to the day, I flew out to california, and met Jim for the first time. The concept, and the reality, of RED was so exciting, that I flew back out a week later so Jim, Jarred and I could play with Natasha, and the earliest version of the cinema software for the Canon mount.

Until Jim and RED came along, I had no interest in Hollywood. The rental-oriented high-dollar low-volume model just did not interest me. Having seen what Jim had already accomplished with this camera, and Jim's vision and passion for RED, I, like all of the reservation holders, wanted to be a part of his journey. I thank Jim for creating something so revolutionary, for creating something that has already become so much more than we all expected. I thank Jim for allowing me to be a part of it all.

Exciting times. Jim, Jarred, Stuart - thanks. For now, I am going to let Jarred be the spokesperson for the effort. Still some work to be done, but less than there was just a few days ago.

Erik may be able to modify the Birger mount for 35mm adapters or other systems, but that would certainly require an entirely new hardware design. Why do you think that it will work on "any camera that'll take an SLR lens mount"? That makes no sense to me.

I spoke to Erik about this a while back and he told me it works quite well on the RedRock M2, so I sent him my Brevis35 for him to test the mount on. He found that the Brevis35's carbon tube needed to be shorter in order to get the right FFD. However, since the tests were done with the Canon, which requires a FFD of 44mm, and my order is for a Nikon mount, whose FFD is 2.5 mm longer than that of the Canon, I'll probably won't have to get shorter a carbon tube. At any rate, the Birger mount will work with probably any of the current 35mm adapters.
