Birger Lens Mount Reservations

So we are back to the ole school of Birger communications.

(and I am aware that he did not say this Thursday...)

On wednesday at 12:13pm EST (one day in advance of our promise) we sent an email to our reservation holders. If you are a reservation holder, and did not receive an email, please check your spam folder. If your email was not received please contact us at i n f o @ b i r g e r . c o m, to ensure we have your correct contact information.

Your post was 100% not helpful. Thanks.

I am not a reservation holder, just keeping an eye on the situation to make an informed decision once our camera ships.

Sorry if I was not helpful, but your previous post on this thread did not indicate that you'd only keep reservation holders in the loop.

Ok, for those who didn't receive Erik's mail:

Dear Reservation Holder,

I would like to thank all of you for your support. It may take a couple of days to respond to the many emails. I would like to assure you all, Birger has two priorities:

- Work with RED to resolve the warranty issue. I will allow Jim's public statement on REDuser earlier today, to stand for my own: "We continue to work with Birger to get that mount compatible with our system. I am sure we will get there."

- Finish testing the electrical fix that we have implemented.

I am unable to comment on schedule at this moment. I hope to be able to do so very shortly. As soon as we have reached resolution on these two issues, I will send another email.

Regards,
Erik.

Actually, in his previous email to reservation holders (which was then posted in this thread by Tico) Erik said, "From this point forward, we will be communicating progress to all current reservation holders directly by email."

You'll find that post here:

How is it appropriate - and I'm not even talking about legalities here, just in terms of how decent people treat each other - to post a private email (verbatim apparently) on a public forum?

Don´t mind the haters erik.

Somehow I wonder why nobody whine about the delay of red one. Your product seem to be delivering equally more benefits than originally promised. In the beginning it seemed like a cheap work-around for adjusting iris and focus on canon lenses, however it has evolved into a full scale contender to the ARRI follow-focus AND WRC-2 remote control - and its modular, upgradeable and revolutionary ! :w00t:
I suggest people contact ARRI for a priceqoute, then maybe they´ll have more appreciation for the treat they are about to receive. (and while you are add it, ask them if they can deliver a custom made 17-55mm f/2,8 with image stabilisation)

BTW, I am curious to know wheter or not the fix you are working on implies powering from the front or back of the camera?

all the best eddie

Mike, if you're referring to my quote of Erik's statement to reservation holders, it was a direct response to a request made by Jay here:

http://www.reduser.net/forum/showpost.php?p=246283&postcount=1682

Not that there's anything wrong with that!

:whistling:

I would like continued updates on this.. I am not a reservation holder, but I am very very interested in Erik and his progress..

Just cause I like the guy and support his product.... So there.

Jay

I understand Tico - and Jay too (if you're from St. Louis, my old home town, you can't be all bad), both you guys have been good on the issues both on and off the board, just seems like it shouldn't be the constant practice and there is a pm system. I don't mean it like it's a huge deal - fairly minor really.

Mike

PS My tongue hurts from holding back on other stuff - you gotta let me kvetch about somethin'
And I forgot - you too Rami - I know your heart's in the right place.

Thanks Mike
I didnt want to hurt anybody or reveal some kind of secret mail...
Let me apologise if I was not respectfull
I feel Erik is a great man. He is about to finish this fantastic mount I'm very exited about. I just wanted to share information.

How could he not have a good heart, with an avatar like that?

Agreed.

I was thinking of using this photo to make my avatar - but what would it say about me?

Aqua,
so are you making underwater enclosures for red/birger? can you tell us more and how much something like this would cost?

Aqua,

What is your avatar, the diver or the shark?

Old saying, Mark. Everybody likes a little a__, but nobody likes a smarta__. JK:biggrin:

SuperNova - we make housings for red/PL and red/birger but birger will make life a lot easier - better control of iris and focus but also no need for different gears when you change lenses. $6500 for PVC (aluminum frontplate for heat dissipation) or $8499.00 for full aluminum body. plus a few hundred here and there for encoders, gears, or whatever. I'll post some pics later.

Has a shark ever gotten through that protective suit? or have you been bitten by one large enough that it kind of carried you away?

I want a cool story!!

jay

Jay, it needs pictures and I'm away from the home computer so I'll post later.

Sounds very interesting. Some details on how it all works would be great too... I know it's a bit of a hijack but considering we are waiting it might be worth going over.
