  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Birger Lens Mount Reservations

In fact, if anyone is in a hurry, I'll make a couple this week. It takes me a day to get and turn the metal, and drill holes to make a custom one-off. Would anyone be willing to pay the labor and parts to the tune of about $375? I could probably have it to you by the weekend. PM if interested.

All of the same is true with RED - (look at their Nikon dumb mount - shipping Soon!!!! even though two end users managed to make them in a weekend) Seems to be the nature of the beast.
There is a big difference between Red's "Shipping Soon" and Birger's, Shipping in 3-4 weeks every since August........October.....December.....January, etc... that they have been giving for 9 months.

Wshultz,

could you show a photo or even a footage that is shot with your custom Nikon mount on RED!?

wshultz, just had to comment that your stills and footage is the most crisp yet that I've seen pulled from an SLR lens. The doll shot in particular is just gorgeous.

I've been very impressed with the color, contrast, and smoothness of many of the still lens shots I've seen thus far, but yours is the first that seems, to my eye, to display the level of sharpness and detail that I expect from a quality still lens. Well done.

Thanks everyone. I actually like those lenses a lot. Which is why I'm looking forward to Birger's mount. (Notice the neat attempt to deflect this thread back on track!)

BTW, the doll was shot with the 28-70. The candle footage was the 17-35.

So. . . is the wireless part of the Birger/Canon combination not going to be available from the start? Does anyone have any guesses how long it will be before the wireless system is available??? Obviously, the wireless is crucial for steadycam work.

Thanks much.

Stephen

Anyone heard anything? Last I heard, Eric was saying notifications of imminent delivery would start next week - 3/31.

Still on target for this...
Thanks for the post. I don't want to be the complaint-type 'cause actually I'm not used to be! :-) Besides, there's already a stick-thread properly opened there, so don't take it like that.

Although, just for the record... Since I didn't get confirmation on my 2nd order in any way other than as far as the 1st one is concerned, how should I proceed?

Waiting for your confirmation on my 2nd one?

Or sending it again by NAB? (in order to keep the free remote control offer)

Will we automatically be given the option for a Canon version while waiting for the Nikon version?

Yes.

Those that have been kind enough not to call me for status aren't aware of this... :whistling:

Anybody with an existing Nikon reservation will be allowed to take delivery of a Canon mount when his number comes up (or any time thereafter) and when Nikon units are ready, trade it in at no cost for a Nikon.

Sorry about the call - didn't see your post (a few posts ago) about that issue, until after I called.
