Birger Lens Mount Reservations

Hey Lauri and people! super excited! I guess there is a Impero working? yay! Curt! and Erik!

and photos yet? any videos of the new Birger lens info on the LCD? I guess some people already have there Ipin update.....

Mike

Erik, I'm also curious about Impero. I am waiting on the Impero to take delivery of the Birger adapter and really wondering how the progress is coming on that front.
thanks!

Well, the jokes on me! My mount has shipped and will arrive today (thanks Erik) and I am stuck in another state with pistons on the floor...anyone know how to put these things together?

Erik, all these long lenses have the "focus speed" switch. Any chance this is the source of problem and explained why they do not work?

I was thinking about this same thing last night. Somewhere in the many pages of this thread I swear I saw a early Birger mount that somone was using with a more recent 600 or 800, the IS version which doesn't have the manual focus speed switch like to older mark II 400mm, 500mm and 600mm (someone can correct me on this as I don't have the IS version to verify this) I hope to be back this weekend and will try it with a Sigma 300-800, which doesn't have a focus speed switch.

At Birger West, I mean ViewFactor, Curt and Joel are doing some testing as we speak, with the 400 and 600. 19r works fine, 19x doesn't. They will be running through all the builds in between so we can better understand which small change caused the issue. These lenses will stay at ViewFactor through the weekend, so we will be able to include them in the testing for Monday's release.

Hey Erik,

what is going on with my special custom order of Birger?

If you would remember I sent you my EF/IMS adaper per your request.

Also I'm an old reservation holder and deposit payer from November 2007.

Some guys in my neighborhood already have got it but they were placed their order in 2008!!!???

Now I decided to push the thing much stronger with a goal and hope to finally get Birger mount.

More tess data EF85mm/f1.2

More tess data EF85mm/f1.2

Had time to test lenses more throroughly. The EF 85mm/f1.2 works only partially in my camera. This is to say, the lens data appears on the LCD showing the iris and saying lens is prime. I can adjust the iris, but every now and then it looks like the adapter looses the lens. This is to say, the lens data disappears from the LCD, the mount does not react to the buttons, and then suddenly the lens data comes back and the iris can be adjusted.

Focus is not adjustable at all. Neither pressing the mid button has any effect.

Library: 19x

Erik sent me an email saying there will be a software update soon. In the mean time, it's the older models that have a focus speed switch which do not work. The newest models of 500mm/f.40 and 600mm/f4.0 are just ok. Tested these lenses myself and found they are ok.

Spent most of the day shooting with the 28-300mm/f.35-5 L-series lens. That seems to be very useful shooting outdoors.

Congratulations!!!

Congratulations!!!

Woot! Tracking Number! Thanks Erik!

Great to hear that mounts are leaving the building....

You're going to love having it.

Let us know when they arrive...

Know how happy you are...

Still following the Birger thread, just out shooting now, not too much time.

Best,
Frazier Nivens, Ocean Imaging

Woot! Tracking Number! Thanks Erik!

I'm very happy to hear this Kyle!

BUT I'm stunned and completely baffled by this! I ordered my mount about 5 or 6 days before Kyle and have received no tracking number. Why is this?

And to be clear, I asked for my mount to be shipped in advance of the Impero, which was confirmed by Amy@birger to be happening. Checked and re-checked spam filter/junk mail folder... not there.

Erik, Amy.. did I miss something??

Same boat here. I even got public posting from Erik himself right here in this thread that mine was in the batch that would go out Monday at the latest (last) but nada. :(

Sorry guys, that sucks. Sadly, I've heard word of a few who ordered in 2008 and got theirs before mine/yours. Not sure how Erik's order fulfillment process works, but it is definitely a mystery. Hopefull you'll be soon... very soon. Maybe tomorrow? (/me nudges Erik.)

Eric, regarding the Impero, do we have the same option as the ones who ordered directly, receive it now without the antenna and after having it replaced at our expenses when the one with will be ready?

Reservation order not respected

Reservation order not respected

Like RndmAxess and Thom, I'm concerned ...

Edit: Never mind on the above - just found the email. Yeeeeeeeeeeehah!

Sorry to raise doubt unecessarily on this Erik. Hope this shipment group gets sorted out and Thom and Rndm get their emails/shipments soon.

Mine was ordered on the November 26th, 2007, by the way.

Like RndmAxess and Thom, I'm concerned about Birger's reliability in following the reservation order in shipments.

Your package:
Mar 23, 2009 8:48 AM At local FedEx facility NACOGDOCHES, TX
Mar 22, 2009 3:30 PM Departed FedEx location MEMPHIS, TN
Mar 21, 2009 7:04 PM Left FedEx origin facility SOUTH BOSTON, MA
Mar 21, 2009 4:56 PM Picked up BOSTON, MA

We were here on Saturday and Sunday getting these out. We treated the entire batch of shipments together, and it looks like a few either went out of order, or the difference between "overnight" and "express saver" made it look as such. A few more packages will go out today, and that should finish out the current batch. I will talk to Curt later today about the Impero schedule. Most of our last conversations were completely testing and debug related.

Erik, my profuse and humble apologies - this was my mistake. My email inbox apparently hung up on receiving the last two emails of twenty or so incoming - just caught this ten minutes ago. I will edit my previous post and change it to "yeeeeeehah!"

Here's a shot of a Great Gray Owl, EF 28-70mm/f2.8 L, 2K 16:9 100fps. Added bit too much sharpening but gives an idea of the EF lenses with Red One.
