  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Birger Lens Mount Reservations

We are shipping more mounts today. Lots more tracking numbers today.

Hey Eric,
thats good news...
Do you think that we still have to ship back the mount to you for upgrade when the Impero will be available or, after the software freeze of some days ago, this will not be necessary anymore.
I'm thinking it would be convenient for me to wait for the combo well baked, if both ingredients are so close...

Kyle.. it won't work without ruby slippers. I saw it in a movie. The slippers are the trick.

Erik,

Thank you! I'm eagerly looking forward to a tracking number. See'ing as how I was billed the full amount back in October, I'm hopeful mine will be in this batch...

I close my eyes, clench my fists, and rock on my heels... "I wish... I wish... I wish upon a Birger Mount..."

I was also charged 10/2/08.... I'm REALLY hoping to be in this batch too

waiting....

waiting....

....still........waiting............

guess its the Impero holding it up now????

PITA, the 18-50 really isn't long enough for what we are doing, but its better than nothing.
:help:

Ahemm... for a little perspective
- I ordered Nov 25, 2007 and paid in full at that time
- roughly a year later, on Nov. 20, 2008, Amy wrote me that my mount would be among the next to ship
- I still don't have my mount

I would agree with you except that it happens on my 17-40mm L as well. It doesn't happen on any of my other lenses of greater focal length so I think it might have something to do with being WIDE and a ZOOM. I should do some more testing to see if I can nail down the issue.

-Jes

I think it is probably the combination of wide and zoom, plus the lightweight construction. Although the 17-40 F4 is an L series I believe it is the lightest, cheapest, and smallest of the L zooms and probably gives up something in terms of mechanical precision. Kind of the same situation as the 10-22 - said to be L type optics but not quite the build quality of the more expensive L.

Frazier Nivens has the older 16-35mm L f2.8 so maybe he can try that as I would expect it to have better mechanics.

move closer :)

heh heh.. sorry, that was a dumb joke, with bad timing, i just couldn't resist.
taken in the spirit it was meant..... :bleh:
If I could move closer I'd be sitting on top of the ADR operator (I'm only 3 feet behind him)... he doesn't like us being in his studio as it is! Too much fan noise, even in "quiet" mode!

Anybody have any more info on Rodney Charter's speach on Red / Birger / Viewfactor / HD at the HD expo? I heard he has the Birger and Viewfactor setup and likes it.

Details? I keep hitting refresh to see if I'm getting a shipping notice--so I really need something to distract me...
