  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

BeSteady FOUR Thread

Hello Guys,

we have send another batch of units. I will contact next persons from the list to confirm delivery details.

The cable packs will be shipped in this week. There was a small problem with those that I had to solve. We need to ship them as gifts to those of you that already received units to avoid problems with custom procedures as they are part of pack that you have already paid taxes for. I had to confirm proper way to ship them to you so there will be no additional payments from your side for those.

I'm sorry for delay.

Best
Peter

Hey Peter,

I've sent several emails requesting a cable pack, but haven't gotten a confirmation email. Did I make it into the cable batch?

Received !

I'll takesome pictures. Right now, I'm trying it with my son playing near me, it's hard to do.
I must say that the balancing seemed easy compared to a Ronin.

I knew it from the start, but it's too bad there is no HDSDI trough the gimbal to the handle.

Just a quick follow up, i had two cables made for the Beast :

One that allow to use a RED V-Lock plate to power the gimbal and camera through the Lemo 2 pins DC IN
One that allow to power the epic directly from the Lemo 2 pin tray, to keep it simple when you don't need to power accessories. I had that one made with the raven and jetpack combo in mind.

Overall it makes the whole package really shine, that power management is really one of the gimbal highlight.

I was wondering where did you had your cable made ? I don't want to go through Pure4c, and rather have something in-country.

ACR should probably sell those two cables btw, I'll gladly trade my Dtap to Red DC In for them

Bérenger,
sent you a mail with the contact infos.
enjoy your gimbal ! (l'arlésienne ce gimbal quand meme!)

Bérenger, Loic, did you manage to use a quick release plate for easy Weapon support change ? WC quick release riser or something else or it will add too much height?

No I did not, but, to be honest, I'll have to buy one. The dovetail is a pain to put back in place if your setup is "heavy".
I was concern about the center of balance tightening part at first, but it is super easy.

First tests are fine. The gimbal works with EF lens type setup perfectly. I'll try a my Ekran PL zoom tomorrow.
It is not as simple as the Ronin who is almost plug and play. But it is also completly customizable. Think OSX versus Windows/Linux.
The voice is irritating as it's too slow, I kept it only for errors.

I am concern with the tilt axis motor, it looks like a circuit board is outside the left shell. Will it support light rain I don't know.
I really don't like the big batteries. I don't like the plug itself. I don't understand the nice lemo on the gimbal side, and the round consumer plug on the battery side.

The two accessories ports are fine, I wish they were tool-less though. I'm putting my Vlock mount with an A mount quickrelease, it will be perfect with Loic's cables.

The joystick cable and the remote cable are a joke. Same as the batteries, the plug is a computer plug, think IDE drive.
I don't plan to use them, but still. I wasn't able to put the joystick in, it doesn't fit.
Also about things that doesn't fit, one of my carbon rods is not 15mm but 16mm.

The Beast Encoders seem to have a hard time panning, tilting and rolling at the same time. After 15° roll and panning/tilting, encoder error, and motors are switched off.
On a gimbal it's ok, but I plan on using the Beast on a crane where 3 axis at the same time could be useful.

The stand is boring. The idea is neat, but the locking system of the two handles support is actually inexistant, so with heavy setup, the whole stand rises with the Beast when you lift it.
The Stand Rods felt on my naked toe. It hurt badly.

That's the only bad things I have to say right now. I'll try to actually shoot something this weekend.

[EDIT= Now that everything is set, it is "balance and play"]
