or We should be able to power everything with a battery mounted on the camera itself.

Hello Guys,

I have brought your question to Max (he is CTO) and he asked me to put that information on forum;

"You may use slightly different option, but just remember that V-Lock batt should be fairly powerful.

With AB/D-Tap connector V-Lock you may connect this source of power with D-Tap<->2-pin Lemo cable directly to DC IN on left side of gimabl vertical arm. Still thanks to that you will be able to use DC OUT and camera shelf Lemo sockets to power different accessories.

Just remember that only inputs are secured (anti-reverse polarity and over-amperage protection). So you should always connect input power to DC IN or via two red JST (but not at once!).
Second thing to remember is that gimbal has got single and monolith power distribution, so you cannot connect two different batteries to this system. So either you are using JST connectors and ACR small batteries to power up gimbal with some accessories - such as Paralinx/Teradek and follow focus, or you are using V-Lock/ACR large batteries to power gimbal, camera, accessories.

Currently we are experimenting with high voltage high amperage small batteries, if those tests will go fine we will be able to provide small tube-shaped batteries which will be capable of providing enough power for RED with accessories.
Other thing is that new firmware should change slightly power distribution giving you at least 30% more time on ACR large batteries or V-Lock, when using RED with accessories."

What is the pin out for the DC IN 2 Pin lemo? I want to investigate finding an AB Plate to mount on the handlebars and provide power to the Beast and Camera, but want to make sure I buy one that is properly wired. Is Pin 1 Power or Ground?

It's almost complete.

Place of mount - the silver part is attached directly to engine in place of old Locn'n'load system:

It will be possible to buy additional mounting plates so it will be easy to connect The Beast to different devices. There are special mounts to that carbon plate so you will be able to use it as handheld.

I will post final production version soon.
