  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Bausch&Lomb CinemaScope Baltars.

They look amazing ! Much respect for what you did !
Thumbs up!

Thanks. Just need to adjust the PL mount to align the front element. have a little custom tool for it but could not find it so went with it as was which result in the slightly tilted flare. Looks better when perfectly straight but still I really like the circular dot blur these have even on something as wide as 40mm.

Also need to design a good matte box for them. As they need some large ass filters and also barn doors of epic scale to keep flairs out if the are not wanted.

Some looks good some looks rather odd, like the lights above the carussell... looks nuts.

Same titled Pl mount on this.

Jupp had to many music videos that I made so Vimeo decided I was ignoring copyrights. So they decided to delete my account and about 5000-6000 files I uploaded trough the last 18 years of production. Fuckers. I would have difficulty not to start a fist fight if I eve got in close contact with the once in charge at Vimeo.

But now had some time to do some more tests and the new favorit is actually the 100mm it looks smashing on monstro.

Wow I can’t believe they deleted that much of your content.

5000 - 6000 videos....deleted from over an 18 year period...Thats fucked up!!!! The video with this lens looks great .If you don't mind me asking, what T stop or F stop, I'm not that familar with this lens, did you use for this video?

That's ridiculous! What'd they say when you emailed them saying, "WTF?"

Anyway, those lenses have an amazing look to them and seeing them on Monstro/VV is awesome. It's almost jarring seeing modern cars in those frames... Like they shouldn't be there. haha.

Are you going to post a couple r3ds to play with? Would love to add back a bit of contrast and see those colours pop.

Very much looking forward to the next instalment. Any production thinking of using them yet?

That's terrible with Vimeo - infuriating!

I had some loose requests for these lenses but no, so far nobody has been stupid enough to actually try to use them on something important.

I left a 35mm in Roy Andersen's studio a few weeks back which he was quite excited about. But don't even know if he can actually mount it on his red one and also he is shooting a feature now on sphericals that he will work on for quite some time forward so I doubt he would do anything with it anytime soon.

I feel they are abit too crazy to actually be something I would promote towards any of my clients and if using them on something I produce myself then yes, I would be worried enough to have a set of kowas or something near by. But never say never, might use them for a big liqour commercial in januari. I just have to grow balls until then, and do some more testings. :)

Hi Björn,

It looks like your 100mm is bit a misaligned? It skews to the left a bit. I like the look of the 35mm.

At times I'm still struggling to to get the PL mount flanges perfectly aligned with the front element. But starting get a hang of it some is better than others and I need to go trough them all preferably with a perfectly leveled projector. Now I do it with the camera as my only instrument and that is not totally accurate so a bit hit or miss.

Bjorn,

Loved the look of both videos especially the first one, up until the focus breathing at about the :34 second mark. I think as long as you have enough light to stop the lens down a bit to keep a deep DOF, I think a car commercial would look great with this lens.
