  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Backorder Update - November 8

I thought about making something somewhere permanent.. but we are hoping this isn't going to be a permanent situation.. just a couple more months and backorders will be the exception rather than the norm.

All due respect Jarred, I can't remember a time when there has been *nothing* on back-order.... Right now it's understandable Epic accessory shortages, but things like the 7" LCD I ordered in February that is still on backorder ....

If it's easier to use Reduser than the Red website, is there any way to do a section where only Red staff are allowed to post, and there are NO REPLIES allowed... so people like me have a place to quickly check for the latest information without having to plow through thousands of posts?

+1

It would be sooooo great !

Our Scarlet has shipped and we're thrilled, but we have no way to work it. Anyone know when the side handle and touch come out of backorder?

Has anyone gotten the modular assault plate yet?????

Not I said the cat. I've had one on order since August. It's so weird how this one item gets so ignored. A simple, yet essential component of the quick release system. And the one thing that keeps me from using a lightweight rod/FF setup for EPIC. I would imagine a lot of these have been ordered.,,,

I don't get it.

That said, we did get our Redmote today and it's pretty friggin' rockin'!! Wireless works within about 30-40' line of sight, about 20' from another room :)

Thanks for getting that out RED Team!!

I've had one ordered since august too. it is an odd thing to be left out in the cold.

You probably know this, but this part here: http://www.red.com/store/rail-components/product/dsmc-15mm-adaptor-centered is a 15mm lightweight adapter that fits on the front of the Red Quick Release system. (I don't know why Red mentions the 15mm studio offset system on that page. I think it just confuses people as to what this part is.) I've been using it since July. It works great, but it stays with the baseplate instead of coming off with the camera. Surprisingly, many times (but certainly not always) when I want the camera off the sticks, I don't need the matte box either. Not the perfect solution, but better than not having it.

I have the simple baseplate, but I want to use an Arri MFF-1 on 15mm rods with an Arri LMB-5 clip-on. I want to be able to QR out of a tripod and then drop the camera onto a hand held rig without pulling the MB or FF.

I've had to go with an an FF4 and 19mm rods coming off of the QR baseplate. To pull the camera, I've got to slide it off the dovetail. Much slower and heavier. If I use the QR, the rods and MB stay on the tripod... Kinda defeats the purpose of the QR system ;(

This is why I've moved to third party accessories. It's perplexing how a small shop like Wooden Camera can get this stuff out immediately, and Red can't. I guess most of their resources are set to making cameras, EVF, and Red only equipment; I suppose that's the best priority, but not good for getting red's accessory system established.

Yeah moved to third party accessories as well...the only time I order RED accessories is when I don't have the choice.... No one else makes a compatible QR DSMC with 15mm rods support...I wish Brook would have made it (he was going to initially but decided not as RED introduce one) he would have sold tons of them as this part has been in backorder since august!!!! :-/

Sliding of the dowtail might take some seconds longer, like five or so but then you also can balance the camera on each rig wich is kind of needed or?

One option I used for the follow focus is to actually put it on a 19mm top mount, then it goes with the camera even when loosing the bottom quick plate and matte box wich is kind of nice but it might get in line of sight for your focus scale.

Just got my email saying my RED BACKPACK QUICKPLATE is ready to ship

Yes - this would be an amazing development!!

Today arrived-
Canon mount- Pl mount - ssd module- side handle -touch screen and batteries.
Now i am waiting for just one part........

Hey Willy
Could you comment on the build of the Side Handle. I've read a lot of reports of the batteries not being held in place because of the poor plastic battery release mechanism that doesn't hold the batteries in place correctly.

Just wondering if RED have fixed this problem in new builds.
