What if I just want a quarter pounder?
... The glorious thing is that NONE OF US are paying for FILM and FILM PROCESSING.
...(
But you have to pay something for terabytes of data storage, duplicating, archiving, and hours of data processing dont forget about it. :wink5:
(pardon the analogy) it would be like MacDonald’s telling you that a Big Mac costs $4 and you saying that it actually costs $6 because you need fries and a drink. Heck in my case I like chicken nuggets too so it’s going to be even more than that. But the Big Mac is still $4.

Not really true at all. You can get JUST a Big Mac if you want. An Epic without a battery or a recording option is just a piece of modern art, a very expensive coffee table piece. Many "options" aren't actually optional.
Not true. An epic without media still has the ability to be useful via hdsdi, hdmi, or ethernet. There are people who have requested brains only and won't be recording on board.
You can run Epic off AC so battery isn't needed either.
Hey Tim do you have a link to the post you mentioned?
As far as I know the latest pricing was ...
Scarlet 8x Fixed- $4750 (includes Brain/lens, Side CF Module, REDmote, 2.8" Touchscreen LCD, REDVOLT battery and travel charger) + $1000 for HDRx™™ = $5750

The thing about the AF100 is that the manufacture of it has caught up to the R&D, therefore yipee it goes on sale. It might even be interesting if it weren't for its sucky 8 bit long gop capture codec. Scarlet on the other hand has a gap between its manufacturing and its R&D and every time that gap seems to narrow it suddenly widens again. I surely hope to god that this trend will end soon and you can finally release it.
One minor correction, the AF100's codec once transcoded to something like Pro Res is no longer Long GOP.
I'm just a lowly college student hoping to get a lick of the professional camera salt block. I knew I was going to have to save my hard earned cash a long time to get the $4750 needed for just the fixed Scarlet, but now I feel like I'm just some idiot chasing a dollar bill on a fishing line... right into a big cactus.... What happened to 3k for $3k?
You guys just need to slow down before there's nothing left to distinguish the scarlet from the epic. (okay okay I exaggerate, but I'm still sad!)
i say grab names and put a snivel tax of another 1000 on it...
Ranks right up there with sewing machine leg as a cool descriptor.:yesnod:Snivel tax.
Brilliant.
The fixed Scarlet kit is only going up $1,000 to $5,750.
