  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Atlas Lens Co. - Orion Series 2X Anamorphic Prime Lenses

I am trying to put a down payment, but my Canadian visa is adding 2.5 percent on top for foreign exchange (suckers:)
Is wire an option ?
thanks
Albert

65mm and 100mm generally cover 8K 6:5 anamorphic with ease.

40mm nearly covers 8K 6:5 anamorphic on Monstro with its current housing.

It may Be possible we offer a housing swap (for $) for the 40mm that covers 8K 6:5 anamorphic without vignetting at all.

A 7.5K 6:5 would likely be “perfect” if/when offered. 7K is easily done.

thanks Dan. Do you mean you might offer housing swap for the camera or for the lens? So you have to swop out the mount on the camera to use the 40mm with 8K 6:5?

Hey Dan. Any chance you can show us some footage of 40mm yet? That would be awesome.
Thanks.

Yeah - there’s a bunch in here:

More films coming soon.

Come see them all at the LA event posted above taking place on March 1

Looking beautiful, Dan.

One question, in 00:14, there are green oval flares (blurbs) on the lower left and some funky flares on the car dash board. Which lens was it shot with? Are those flares due to optical design, or are these reflections/glares from using mattebox?
You see those flares basically from 00:14-00:17

Then in 00:20, there is an orange oval flare in the middle of the screen.

Are these flares typical signature we can expect from Orion?
What I would like to see is more footage shooting direct into the sun with at least 2-3 stops over exposed.

Flares and grading and things like that are all subjective.

I didn’t catalog the lens used for the shots because I didn’t shoot or produce the content.

You can expect the flares from our lenses to be “freakin cool” “different” “awesome” and “not boring.”

Because that’s what we designed them to be.

If you don’t like what you see so far, wait and see if you like what we put out.

We didn’t design these to be clinical and boring.

We designed them to be Unique, Classic and Modern at the same time.

I’m sure there will be more shots pointing directly into the sun because people love that.

I didn't say they were boring.

However, there are some flare elements (as described above) that I am not quite sure I like 100% though.
So looking forward to see raw footage (ungraded) coming out of the final product.
