ARRI Signature Zoom Showreel “Zoom around New York”

Image quality like prime lenses, but they’re zooms? See New York City through our two most extreme Signature Zooms, the 65-300 and 16-32. Photographed and narrated by lens product specialist Art Adams. Captured with ALEXA 35.

Here is the workflow I mentioned to you on Lowepost of how to make a ALF-4 compatible Look file for the Alexa 35 from the Ravengrade DCTL .

The Look And How It Was Made

I used ACES as the Intermediate Color Space for better and more accurate results. I used "AWG-4/ALC-4" for both the "Input" and "Output" "Color Space" to make sure that the Ravengrade Look adhered to the "LOG-To-LOG" requirements to make the "ALF-4" File from.

Next, I added the "ARRI_LOGC-4-to-Gamma24_Rec709-D65_v1-65" Lut to transform the "AWG-4/ALC-4" image to "Rec709 Gamma 2.4".I mis-labeled the node, it should have been "AWG-4/ALC-4 to Rec709"

"ARRI_LOGC-4-to-Gamma24_Rec709-D65_v1-65" Lut

92.png

Then I "Disabled" the"ARRI_LOGC-4-to-Gamma24_Rec709-D65_v1-65" Lut so that the Ravengrade Look will have the net effect of a "LOG-to-LOG" "AWG-4/ALC-4 to AWG-4/ALC-4" format to make a "ALF-4" look file from for the Alexa 35.

Now
"Right-Click" on the thumb of the graded clip and select "Generate Lut" to create a Lut to make the "ALF-4" file from. I selected the "65 cube size" option since the Alexa 35 can handle it internally.

The Arri Reference Tool

Inside of the Arri Reference Tool, I Imported the AWG-4/ALC-4 file I used inside of Resolve.

Now go to the "LOOK" Header at the top of the menu. Then the "Color Grading" area then to "3D Lut" to select the "Kodaky Look 2" "AWG-4/ ALC-4" "Log to Log" compatible lut to make an "ALF-4" look file from

Finally, at the top of the menu, go to "LOOK" then to the "Export Look File" icon shown below give the Look file a name and you are done.

"Kodaky" applied to the "Helen and John" "AWG-4/LOGC-4" "Reference" Image.

"Kodaky" ALF4 Look File was applied in the ARRI Reference Tool ( The saturation I used can be brought down in the grade that I used)

Here's the "Kodaky Look 2" (Log-To-Log) Lut I made in Resolve with Ravengrade and the final "Kodaky" ALF-4 look file. I just pulled the grade out of my A** as a sample look so....

In soft-preparation for a project, I was curious to put my Arri IIC next to an Alexa 35 to study the difference.
