Thanks for this leaked info! This camera doesn't seem to be 1st AC friendly, unless there will be some type of monitor that you can plug into one of those I/O ports on the right side.

Likely it comes with pretty good wireless AC control.

Bjorn,

You're right. I'm still trying to figure out if there will be a FULL size version of this camera like the Arri Alexa LF/ Arri Alexa Mini LF or is this just an "in-between" between a fuller size version and a Mini version with no higher tier option available. They included some controls for the CAMERA OPERATOR side of the camera but non for the 1st AC side, which is the reason for my thinking that this is it. The Alexa Mini and Alexa Mini LF had no Camera Operator control selectable screens.

ARRI is quite well known for all their AC gadgets so my guess is as that's how they will tackle it. Before the big version always came first LF studio then the Mini so I doubt there will be a bigger one this round. The trend seam to be to make camera bodies as small as possible with a lot of connectors and it seams arri have that covered with this one.

Sure nice to have a big camera with everything on it but most of those where sold just because the Mini was not brought to market yet.

Yeah I think everyone is going for a more compact cinema camera with maybe the most reasonable I/O essentials to get the job done. But with all due respect to RED, You know when ARRI says 17-stops of dynamic range that it will most likely be close to 17-stops of dynamic range. I would think that they would want to improve their low-light recoverability capabilities since their High-light recoverability is already so great already. But I guess we will have to see how they chose to distribute those stated 17-Stops of dynamic range.

Just the moderator conundrum and thoughts here speaking out loud.

Many people are under NDA regarding the new camera, including myself. Very early in the morning of the 23rd of May the leaks started flowing, but information has been leaking for a while now. A few random cellphone shots, chatter of specs, etc. Mostly among professionals behind closed doors. Today was the first actual public blast of the leaks.

For a moment this morning the initial reaction was to push to take down anything, but this spread to a couple other camera groups and at this point taking it down would be useless. Official announcement is on the 31st, 9am PST.

Thanks Phil for allowing us to keep it!:triumphant::thumbsup:

This camera has hardly been a secret for well over a year now, probably closer to 2 years. There are numerous camera bodies floating around LA now being used by DP's and tested by DIT's.

Even Arri themselves have been very open about information on this camera for numerous months now.

One thing I'll say is the range exceeds 17 stops. The term game changer gets thrown around on this forum a lot but it really is.
