Nuke 15.0 & 14.1 | File format SDK updates

By Foundry

To maintain pipeline efficiency & flexibility it is vitally important to keep our RAW camera and file formats support up to date. In this release, we have further improved our support for the new ARRI Alexa 35 camera, with the ability to read files in the HDE format and we also updated the HDE SDK to the latest 4.0.3
As can be seen here we have also updated the ARRI IMAGE SDK to the latest 8.0
There has been a minor update to EXR files to 3.1.6 and we have updated the Avid DNx libraries to the latest version 2.7.3, this update will ensure compatibility and good file exchange between the latest versions of Avid media composer and Nuke.
We have also updated our identification, and in some cases decoding, of all .mxf files. Generally the changes associated with this update are not visible to the user, but this does enable us to support all file formats on the macOS ARM platform
Finally for Nuke 15.0 only we have deprecated the use of the old ARRI 6.2.3 SDK and now use the new ARRI IMAGE 8.0.0 SDK for all ARRI files, including legacy files, keeping historical files usable in Nuke for the foreseeable future

You know, Linus Tech Tips just did a video on the Alexa 35 and I felt a little bad that they had trouble telling the difference between it and the Sony FX6! I guess it shows that digital cinema cameras aren't for everybody and it really depends whose hands they are in to get the most out of them. It also shows that Sony is really on the ball with their new cameras and I'm eager to see where Arri and Sony go from here.

Thanks Zack for the Linus Alexa 35 Info! Yeah I think it all comes down to who is using the camera and their knowledge on how to get the best from that camera.

Arri Alexa 35 - S16 Mode - Arri Ultra 16s

Again, sorry for no lens data.
Thoughts: lovely, sharp and fast set for digital s16 shooting.
Clean and all lenses match nicely.
Also, upres to 4K is very easy and still looks great.

Arri Alexa 35 - S16 Mode - Angenieux

Little test with the Angenieux 11.5-138mm S16 Lens on the Arri Alexa 35.

Things to note: Lens needs a service/collimation.

Parfocal works from 138 down to about 30mm but
then looses focus.

Lens also blooms at 138mm wide open, this goes at T4 or if the lens is at 95mm or below.

This lens also vignettes on close focus, to get around this I used a +1 diopter which throws the parfocal out completely, so some zoom outs look very soft, however it does allow you to get extremely close.

Very sharp lens especially on the longer end considering it's on the s16 crop mode.
