  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Apple tablet: Thoughts?

Hopefully someday-
a tablet like this will be able to connect to a Red camera
the way Red's new touchscreen LCDs work
and you will be able to access menus
and pull focus with the touch features...

Seriously, from what i've read about this thing and what I would use it for (watching HD videos etc) I could just bring my 15' MacBook Pro with me. I don't see the excitement around this thing at all.

"Now, Time Magazine. Next, Fandango, because Steve Jobs wants to buy some tickets for a movie. “Grab the tablet that’s in the kitchen, go to the iPad and buy your tickets.”

Oohhh, cause it looks like an oversized iphone. The only interesting thing I could see with this is if someone developed a way to control epic and monitor stats with it.

I don't see a use for this product at all. It's too big to fit in your pocket, yet too small to be a comfortable laptop, and not quite as good as a Macbook Pro.

So, for around the same price you can just get a Macbook, which has more functionality, a keyboard, mouse, etc, and be able to do more with it.

The only place I could see this work is in science labs and such, or maybe on construction sites. For the general consumer, there is no point.

I know my 8 year old son already drools over this mega-pod as a mobile gaming platform with Youtube, live conferencing with my brother in Barcelona over Skype and online gameing...

and I'm affraid I'm not kidding.
The fact that you can call from it too, doesn't mean much to him.

Is it anything more than a big iPod Touch?

No 3G? Unless they intro a new version at the end of this. That is a shocker and one of the bigger selling points for me. Always on...anywhere.
