  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Announcing RED RAVEN

Looks really nice the new camera!
A changeable lensmount would really be nice to have, as somebody mentioned earlier.
Are there any plans to integrate Prores444 as well?
Prores422 is up to 2k, Crop/windowed or full downscale?
Spec says 16+ Stops of DR, is that done with pixelbinning or native sensor DR?
Can we please see some footage?

Thx
Rainer

Nice!
Just a few questions:

-DSMC² Universal Handle: Does it has a start/stop function?
-DSMC² Base I/O V-Lock Expander: Is it possible to attach V-mount batteries directly to this module to feed the camera?
-Does the camera has the HDR-X function?
-How is possible to achieve 16.5stops as the bigger Dragon 6K sensor? Are the shadows going to be as clean as the 6K Dragon?

Thanks in advance

Not an R3D file but only 2K jpeg output (scaled 4K I guess) but this could well be the very first public RAVEN image available...

Hey guys, I think I'm going to get me a Raven.

However, I just bought a smallHD 702. I need a bright monitor for shooting wildlife and sports. I don't really need the red 4.7" monitor. But is there a way to actually control the camera without the touch screen? I don't want to use foolcontrol in the field. I mean with the epic, you could use the side handle.

I'd love some advice because it will determine whether I chuck a deposit on the brain only or a package.

Yes you can get a sidekick.

This is a game changer in the sub 10k price point. With a chopped down Dragon sensor and probably all new boards I'm interested to see some real world footage from this camera rather than imagining it is going to look like a cropped Dragon sensor. RED please post some actual footage or could you let us know when we are likely to see something?

Anyone think its a good idea if we all sign a "we're sorry...and we hope you get well soon" card and send it to Canon, Sony & BMD?

For those smarter than myself, is it possible that Veydra could throw an EF mount on their Mini Prime lens set? Or is there a physical reason that they'd have to make a whole new lens? If they could they would be a phenomenal option for this sensor...

"Veydra Mini Primes are short flange so no chance. They can only be M4/3, Sony E, C mount, or anything with a flange depth under or around 20mm"
(above sentence straight from the horse's mouth)

+1 thats the key point: just a cropped Dragon sensor OR same DR/noise quality as the 6k Dragons thanks to all new boards????

I have been lurking here for a number of years and I am overjoyed that I can say that I just joined the Red family. I've worked as an AC on Red One shoots, and been the DP numerous times with rented Epics and Scarlets... The fact that I can own this technology.... I am seriously floored.

Count one less Ursa Mini 4.6k- I'll see if that deposit can be applied to a micro cinema camera lol.

Thank you Red for (again) opening new doors for young filmmakers, artists, visionaries, and nut-jobs alike!
