  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

I may have been scammed by a guy going by "ruben contreras".

I wired him $1900 for a set of Kino Flo 2' 4 banks that he was selling on RedUSER, and since wiring him the money he has gone MIA. No communication, no tracking number, etc., except for marking the lights as Sold on the thread.

He has other listings for sale, but not sure what the deal is if anyone has tried to buy those items.

Anybody had any experiences?

The guy sold me a set of Kino Flo's last month and never shipped them. Ever since i paid, he has stopped all forms of communication with me (email or RedUser).

After half a dozen messages from me a week after the payment and no communication, he finally replied "I shipped them last week", but would not tell me what shipper, what tracking number, etc. Since then he has gone dark.

He's still active on RedUser trying to sell his Epic package, and I dont want to see someone get scammed out of over 10X what he took from me.(http://www.reduser.net/forum/showthread.php?133214-RED-EPIC-X-Package-time-to-sell)

Does anyone have any experience with this piece of scum?

Regarding RUBEN CONTRERAS

Does anyone have any experience with this guy? Does anyone live in Vallejo or San Fransisco, CA? Trying to track him down, but he is MIA. He finally admitted that he didn't ship the gear (made up an excuses about UPS holding it at their warehouse) but now i can't get a hold of him again.

Filed a report with the Local police dept in the hopes that they'll pull through, but I'd rather reason with the guy himself.
 
I got a suspicious email today from Tony Perez, offering to sell me an EF Mount (I had posted a WTB ad). I looked him up in the member directory here, and he just joined RU a week ago and has no posts.

Can't His "bank account is currently not setup for wire transfers. If you're okay with sending it as a money order then I will be fine with accepting the money that way."

Seriously... dude, at least learn to scam people with wit.

My business partner and I tried to buy an Epic X kit from him / her / them back in October, and he / she / they basically ran off with our money without shipping so much as a postcard. For whatever reason, Paypal didn't protect us, and so we are currently attempting to chargeback the transaction through our bank. The bank has been super helpful and supportive, but being outside of the US and Europe (we're based in Hong Kong and Vietnam) the chargeback process is somewhat more complicated, and so it's anyone's guess how it'll turn out. Fingers crossed we get our money back. I was also contacted by another buyer who was ripped off by the same seller using the name 'Charles Lobboss', and the email 'garitoslobo@hotmail.com'. Suffice it to say, I only wish bad things on Carlos, Andrea and their ilk (it's entirely possible that it's a group of people running scams), and sincerely hope that they get what's coming to them. Also, keep in mind that they are by now probably operating under different names.
 
There's a guy called George Duncan who purports to be from Pixel Army Studio in SC, USA. It is not him. He was trying to sell me a 7" Red Touch. The first alarm bell was when he contacted me from by email saying that he was a Reduser member, but is not in the member list. After a big of digging I contacted Pixel Army Studio and they confirmed that it's not them.
 
Just had an email from a Mr. George Duncan. Looked suspicious, he says he comes from Pixel Army Studio in SC as well. Thanks Paul You just confirmed that its definitely a scam. (unless of course the real George Duncan has suddenly decided to sell a 5" Touch lol)

Do not send any money to this con-artist.
 
Rule #1 - Do not wire money to anyone

Rule #2 - When in doubt, refer to Rule #1

Rule #3 - If you do not have the merchandise in hand, in good and working
condition - See Rule #1

Rule #4 - Know your seller or kiss your money bye-bye.... Stick with Rule #1
 
rule #5, don't engage with people who send you pm's, and/or only contact you via email. It is best if they engage you first in your thread. Anyone who does that, and is also a fairly recent member... you should be suspicious of.
 
Tom Doran contacted me about one of the cameras that I have for sale. He offered full payment on the same day he first contacted me if I provide him some more pictures of the items, one with his name on a paper next to the camera.
His behavior was very suspicious and I stopped replying him.
