Adobe Premiere Pro And AE CS5 Help & Feedback

Stability is a value from a professional application, crash one time or another it's ok, but every time, is taking an adventurous lifestyle I don't want. I think it's some thing wrong with my configuration, now I'm trying to figure out. I will give news soon. Thanks

A possible reason for frequent crashes is faulty RAM, and not all tests really detect it. Try swapping out different groups of chips to narrow it down.

Ppro cs5 has only crashed on me once, I tried to open up Photoshop CS5 through dynamic link, the remedy launch photoshop on its own. I have several systems but the one i use most is Exactly same configuration as yours, except that its maxed out at 32gb Ram.

I'm old school, I don't use this computer for anything else but editing. I don't even do audio on here. The Only apps on it are CS5, CS4, FCS, Pilotware, Editshare, and Mediaexpress

Hi all, I gave a chance to Premiere, today I tried to edit
a commercial in PP, but sincerely,
it's sucks. Freezing, crashing and freezing and crashing.
All my footage are red 4k hd, the timeline is 1080 red preset,
my mac is a 2.8 quad xeon ,osx 10.6.3, 12gb ram, and 4gb
raid, and GTX285 was quadro fx 5600 but I changed to
GTX285 for try mercury engine. And I unistall and instal
and again the Premiere Pro still isn't pro. However After
Effects,Encore and Photoshop are amazing. Adobe, nice try, but
was not this time.

Are you submitting your crash reports? You mack will have a bunch of crash reports for PPro if that is what is crashing. If you open application/utilities/Console.app you can find these reports with ppro in the name. Grab a couple of those and send them to me in a private message. I could probably tell you why you are seeing crashes that others aren't. All indications we have is that serious crashes are very low in the field right now.

Cheers

Dave

Dave,

any update of the bug relating to importing fcp proxy timeline into CS5? My workflow is to export proxy timeline from fcp and use Clipfinder to conform it to R3D. However importing the R3D timeline into CS5 produces offline clips.

thanks

Hi Sid,

contact H.-G. Daun about it, we've been working on the issue and he may have a beta for you ( if you paid for 2.5 ).

Missing features

Missing features

I want these two things, BADLY:
Easy way to replace footage (proxy workflow) on a per-clip basis.
...
If others would find these features useful, please chime-in.

Dude, I agree 100%...especially with the replace footage issue with premiere. It can be pretty tedious having to relink all your files due to a drive letter change or folder.

Just working through PP CS5 and the lack of a search option when looking for offline media is shocking to me. As a long-time FCP and Avid editor I'm thinking of going Adobe but if I have to manually find every file-path that has been moved since I last opened a project... Well it seems like a lot of easily avoidable work.

Please add a search for file option Adobe!

And while you're at it the other two features I miss (and forgive me if I've missed them) is 'paste selected attributes' from one clip to another and the ability to 'nudge' a clip along the time line with the keyboard.

Hope you're listening Adobe because I think PP could be a winner.

you're right about the first two options.. but you can nudge the clip with keyboard.. its ctrl+./, i think.. don't really remember.. check keyboard customization..

Clipfinder honors it's name: You can conform an Adobe XML to the R3Ds and i'll find them for you. I second the request for a proper search function in PPro, nevertheless.

Actually is: (Alt + "left" or "right arrow") for nudging one frame a time. For nudging 5 frames a time add "shift".

If you add "Ctrl" to (Alt + "left" or "right arrow") you'll get the effect of slip tool: You'll change the ins and the outs, but not the position of the clip in the timeline.

All what I mentioned is based on assuming that the clip is standing alone in the timeline. If the clip is standing between adjacent clips (Alt + "left" or "right arrow") will trigger slide tool: The in and the out of the clip itself will not change, and clip will move in timeline, but the ins and the outs of the adjacent clips will change. If you add "Ctrl" you'll get the effect of slip tool.

Yes, there's a new beta and it works fine.

thanks Kujtim for correcting me.. I rarely use keyboard nudging..

Red color correction settings

Red color correction settings

You name it - a dialog hidden under so many mouse clicks. Now do it like 600x per project :) and You will really want to... well... :smash:

The problem with remembered interpretation is one normally goes one clip after another in very long timeline and often there are intercut dialogues where the interpretation is identical for every other clip - absolutely forget about one setup for whole timeline, it really is set on a clip by clip basis.

If it was possible to have this interpretation dialog available say in clip parameters window in ppro (where trans, rot, scale is...), much like filters etc., so that one could ctrl-c ctrl-v copy it among clips... and, really, it is very important for red users, more than most plugins, for instance, so that I'd propose to move this menu to any location, where it is easily accessible, the settings are easy to copy and it is available on timeline!!, not on source file level - reason is one imports a project and has to match clips's colors one by one in the timeline.

Easy - just do it Yourself on any real world project, You'll confirm what I say here, I guess :)

Thanks and regards!

I second the need for the color correction dialogue to be available to clips in the timeline and not just for sources. It also needs to be available more easily. I just tried it out today for the first time and although color correction with Premiere and After Effects is much better then Final Cut, it could be way better. I just tried Color Finesse in After Effects and that works very well, except it has no Red features such as Color temperature slider, ISO, shadow.

Has anyone else had issues with color variations between Redcinex and Premiere Pro (cs5) after reloading the RMDs? Some of our office computers seem to have this problem while others don't. We get everything looking just right in Redcine, but when in Premiere the reloaded RMD looks significantly different from how it looks in Redcine. two out of three of us are having this issue at my office. If anyone knows what could be causing this or of a solution, please let me know. Thanks.
