  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Adobe Premiere Pro And AE CS5 Help & Feedback

no problem... I would love to see this workflow work. I understand the need for users to move from FCP to PPro :) But seriously as far as the bug on our side goes we are actively looking at it. Hadn't heard about the need to go the other way. I will add it to a list of things to investigate for FCP export.

Cheers

Dave

Are you really sure you never heard of the need to go the other way? I'm just kidding. Fcp export works just fine, except that Apple color only accepts, DPX, MOV, Dvcprohd, and Tiffs AFAIK. The only reason to go to an Apple application would be to Logic Pro, or Apple Color. Logic Pro is not an issue we can mix down for that. But color grading is a big part of a reduser's workflow. So until Black magic resolve is out we can only use Apple color.

We are waiting foe Adobe to surprise us with a full fledged grading system

I actually meant I hadn't heard a request for R3d -> .mov proxy through FCP export. I know users want FCP export for legacy reasons ;)

Cheers
Dave

Thanks.

I really appreciate what you guys have done with Cs5, its a remarkable time saver and very intuitive application. I still have to test it on a long form project, so we live to see.

Thanks Dave

Any chance we'll see the rocket card get utilized in order to transcode?

I downloaded the free trial, but having not used premier for over 10 years, the GUI is so foreign to me. I could not figure out how to import R3d files. I could look my R3d's up, but they played in 4k or something. Just was not very easy for me to figure out.

David, is it possible you can post a quick review of how to setup an R3d workflow in order for slow folks like me to try it out. I had a bad experience yesterday and put it away...but then saw this thread and was hopeful again.

Anyway, i'm really looking for a grading/editing package that will utilize the rocket acceleration in transcoding with easy intuitive workflow.

Thanks....

Hi there,
just a short but rather important question... to me at least!

Is there a way to pass through the ToD information written in the dpx header when rendering an apple pro res 422 out of premiere... Don´t ask why I wouldt ever do that, but I need to have this information!

There is this "preservation rule" thing, but it doesn´t seem to work, since my ToD from the dpx is lost in the QT. But I´m sure it is there in the dpx, because pomfort actually can read it out.

Cheers.

edit: Or does anyone know, whether Premiere is able to read this information at all?

We are currently working on getting ToD out of DPX files...

As far as Rocket support it isn't in CS5. However, there might be some hints around here somewhere about potential future support. Hang tight...

As for how to use an R3d here is the quick start.

double click in the project window to get a open file dialog.
Select R3D file
add it to a sequence and play

At the top of this forum is a in depth demo

David, do you see a chance to have a more advanced source settings window, especially FLUT™™ Control and Whitebalance in PPro and AEX?

Another question is, in AEX I can scrub through the timeline in realtime (like a NLE) even with 3 and more CC effects from layer to layer(4K r3d, FX4800/OPENGL on - really impressive). But how does it come that with RAM Preview even with quarter resolution I have to wait several minutes for the same sequence.

Thanks

Tangent Wave Support?

Tangent Wave Support?

David,

Any plans on supporting the Tangent Wave console?

Cheers,

I don't think it is a secret that we showed Mysterium-X and the new color science support at NAB at the RED user event. It didn't ship with CS5 but you should have to wait long. It includes FLUG, shadow and the new color settings. We are investigating curves, white point etc...

oops, that should have been "Shouldn't have to wait long" really really not that long...

Just for information in case someone has similar problems, as I posted in another thread. I was having issues with Photoshop and After Effects "Stopped Working" instantly crashing on load up. The reason for this appears that my Intuos4 tablet was conflicting. Once I uninstalled it, applications loaded up perfectly fine.

David, when are we going to get timecode in audio files?

Also, still experiencing the bug where timecode in ProRes files are read incorrectly. If I import a ProRes QT that starts at 01:00:00:00, PPro reads it as starting at 00:59:56:09.

not an expert here, but I remember that there were watcom bugs that were fixed by updating your driver instead of un-installing... Sorry I don't have more info. A bunch of AE eng and testers use watcom tablets...

We have people looking at timecode in audio, no promises yet.

Being the guy that works his ass off dealing with QT files.... (grumpy at apple's laking qt support) I want to make sure prores works. Can you get me a sample file? I haven't seen this bug. I know apple just bit me by moving where the hide the field info in prores, adobe standardized that years back and now apple moves it for fun... Probably similar changes in timecode.

Cheers
