Hi All,

Just curious if there will ever be a RED EVF Pro like with the RED LCD and RED LCD Pro. Just before finalizing my order for my camera, I saw that they had the 7" Pro LCD in the store and I changed my order for that one instead of the 5.6"

Just wasn't sure if we'll be seeing a lightweight and/or higher res EVF PRO version in the future...

.. is just a killer...and resolution is perfect !

The Red EVF is (from what I understand, so don't shoot me if there is something else out there) the highest resolution viewfinder on the planet right now. I don't think you're going to find a better one anytime soon. If you haven't used it, you'll be amazed.

It is nice.

When I shoot, I use a 17’ Pana LCD screen.
And bigger sreen is never too far.

But we always are too many around the camera.
It could be very cool to have a better and/or bigger RED EVF.

Make a wish !
Or a prayer to Jim.

The Sony color viewfinder is the same res. So is the one in the EX3.

If you go to a monochrome viewfinder, than there are many that are higher resolution.

You sure about that Mitch? According to the on-line Sony brochures -

Sony used to offer the HDC20A which I think was 960 x 540 pixels?

They now also offer the HDVFC35W at $12,600 but I can't find a resolution spec for that.

EX-3 says its LCD is 640 x 480 pixels and the EVF is 1120 (H) x 225 (V) which implies its 373 x 225 pixels.

No worries. I wasn't complaining about the RED EVF; it truly is amazing. Worked with it in limited capacities to date... Just thought I'd throw that question out there before buying my EVF.

Hey Stuart,

The VF35 is 1280x720 effective, same as RED. Thought it was the same panel in the EX3 but I could be mistaken. Sorry.

The Red EVF is the most amazing EVF I've ever worked with. Its bulletproof and SOOOO clear! It's total HD and has the convenient userkey buttons and menu trigger on top. It's nearly more sexy than the camera itself! I thank god I bought it. It's a no brainer purchase, go blind my friend, it's totally PRO, really!!!...

(I'd seriously consider the Element Technica EVF mount though, as IMO, the Red arm is a bit comfort and serurity tricky considering the weight and all. The ET mount is a real gem...)

EVF for epic

EVF for epic

The EVF looks great, works very well indeed.

However, as long as we're on the subject, here's a suggestion for Red.

I find it hard to orient for hand holding. When the camera is balanced on my shoulder, the EVF is so far forward it argues with the lens.

Can you make an "L" shaped version like a million betacams and ARRIs?
Or shorten it in some way that makes it easier to balance?

I'm sure the EPIC redesign will take this into account. Just my 2c.

Take a look here: http://www.elementtechnica.com/products/view.php?p=2

Honestly, forget the "L" shape, which by the way is "L" only to pick up the image from the camera (reflex style). I've tried the Element Technica EVF Mount and it will make you more than appy. It totally gives you the same comfort and ease as the "L" shaped ones, and it is solid and reliable. The fabrication is very very well done. It might not be obvious to figure out how it works or mounts from the picture, but once mounted on the camera, it's brilliant. It is ajustable, slides back and forth, up and down, all with a simple big sturdy knob.
