  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Adobe Announces native Dragon support in Premiere Pro

Congrats Adobe for being the first viable workflow (unless the new redcine is released first)! Can't wait for more solutions, so excited!

Very cool guys. Still pleased to be on the Adobe train :)

Especially interesting is the new SpeedGrade DirectLink! Congrats on finally getting this working - looks like some pretty stunning integration.

Also especially interested to see that CinemaDNG has been added natively and that it includes GPU assisted Debayer...this bodes well for GPU assisted debayer being added to Red footage too once Red opens it up. Hopefully we'll know more after IBC :)

Well, it's all great and wonderful, but I'd like to know, if Adobe had addressed 10 bit monitoring of Speedgrade on a Mac. Sadly, grading, while looking at 8 bit output for mission critical color is a non starter and for me, personally this is the biggest single reason why I still reluctant to invest my time to learn it.

Is this an Adobe thing or an Apple thing?

I love PP's output quality and options, but cutting in PP seems slower and less intuitive than other NLEs, in my opinion. Am I the only one?

That's nice... But I'm sticking with FCPX. I'm not going to jump back and forth every time a company adds a new feature. I'm sure that by the time I have a Dragon in my hands, Apple will have their sh@t together.

The CC subscription model is like copy paper or ink toner... a consumable expense that hardly makes a blip on the expense radar. It's cheaper than the data plan on my cell phone. I'm a very small company but it really is no big deal. Thanks for the upgrade Adobe.

My complaint with Speedgrade is that the GUI for the Red specific controls (white balance, FLUT, saturation, etc.) don't have intelligent ranges. Clicking on the up arrow for white balance moves the value 1 at a time... 5601, 5602, 5603... If you try to globally change the value per click, then Saturation and FLUT steps are too big. Maybe they have or will fix that too.

Nice work Dave and the team. Alas, i won't be at IBC this year, but rest assured, i'll be back with a vengeance soon and will be hassling you for even more new features :)
Ha! We have a ton of great stuff coming up. Lots of great stuff coming for Red users as well :)

Cheers

Dave

Wow, incredible updates. So glad to see you are guys are being so prompt at working with Red to get compatibility out there right away. Exciting. I'm equally excited about the new Speedgrade workflow!

Is Rocket-X support already there (or on the way)?

PS - FCPX people please go elsewhere - this is the wrong thread for you to be posting in.

i've been a CC convert for over a year now and thing like this are why. cannot wait to make some pretty pretty pictures with Dragon and send them into the world with the help of Adobe.

This is great news, I have recently been moving more of my workflow to adobe. One thing I was hoping to see, but didn't see it called out, was more help on the distribution side ... I am having a hard time taking my great AE footage and moving it to distribution media (DCP, blu-ray, etc ...).

You can take your AE Comp and bring it into Adobe Media Encoder and get all the export options from there. There are DCP plugins for AME available and it supports Mpeg2-Bluray.

Cheers

Dave
