Adobe Announces native Dragon support in Premiere Pro

I got word about the Dragon support not long ago, but this is yet another great reason why I fully support what Adobe is up to. It's also demonstrating what's great about the CC concept. Thank you again for providing tools I use on a daily basis.

Shame it's CC only, I have switched back to final cut for now as I prefer to own my software

Oh and I should say a huge "rad sauce" on the Direct Link concept between Premiere Pro and Speedgrade. Mind blowing really.

I use a variety of color grading packages, but I really love exactly how deep and controllable the Lumetri Color Engine is. I miss a few things from other applications, but the level of control that can be had within a single primary corrector is rather astonishing.

Gotta love Adobe...

Well, it's all great and wonderful, but I'd like to know, if Adobe had addressed 10 bit monitoring of Speedgrade on a Mac. Sadly, grading, while looking at 8 bit output for mission critical color is a non starter and for me, personally this is the biggest single reason why I still reluctant to invest my time to learn it.

Will Dragon really only be supported on CC? What about those of us who have dropped significant $$ into CS5.5 and the upgrade to CS6?

I guess that there's one question that we all must have on our minds.

Does this mean that new color science behind DRAGONCOLOR and DRAGONGAMMA are ready to go?

I'm not really sure why, if you use these tools professionally, you're not running the latest version of the software. It's not as if price is a barrier to entry.
I upgraded the second CC became available, and haven't looked back. I'd recommend the same for anyone who uses Adobe software on a daily basis.

Great move !

Thank you Adobe team. With this kind of announcement, i am happy to pay every monthes.

Understandable, but what about those of us who are starting out and don't want to throw tons of our money into constant software upgrades? Price IS a barrier when you've written out your financial strategy and it doesn't involve an extra $30-$50 a month or $360-$600 a year. It especially stings when we know Adobe is fully capable of giving Dragon support to CS6. CS6 isn't even a very old software. It's fresh and awesome! CS5.5 and CS5 were also great! They had everything I need.
It's NICE to stay on the bleeding edge of software, but some of us don't want to fix what ain't broke (maybe just patch it a bit to bring Dragon support)

I dropped PP a few months back for FCPX... due to speed of editing. PP is still just to clunky and destructive for me to move forward with sadly, as I do love the AE / Speed grade workflow.
Gave PP a couple of years... but sadly its just to slow. (not saying it's shit by any means ! ) Adobe AE is like a gift from the gods !
I hope you guys are still in bed with APPLE though, for their new incoming update end of the month.... and for the new tower.

Cheers J

I'm sure they are Mark. It's nice to have options and good to see a software company updating quickly. Hopefully Apple will release something soon.

Just need Blackmagic to update Resolve and Dragon is a commercial goer. Without native support in color grading systems Dragon enabled cameras will be at a disadvantage getting on TVC shoots.

Interesting to see what happens with the Apple Mac Pro Update and where this leaves Premier , yep its clunky...hopefully this has improved ?
