  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Action Products Raptor Offer: Only Good Until 3/22

Just got my Raptor. Although I won't have time to start practicing with it until next week, I have to say that the quality is outstanding. I sold my Steadicam Zephyr to get this, and that definitely was the right move. I didn't use my Zephyr much as it was painful to use it, not horrible, but my hip would kill the next day. The side mount vest helps a lot in making things more comfortable. And the arm is much better and seems like it is easier to control, makes a small footprint so you don't need as much room, and stays out of your way more. The Zephyr is not a bad system, but the Raptor is better designed and the quality is better. Even the case is better, smaller, lighter, and easier to move around. I could image flying with this, would have to check it of course. I'll be using this a lot and for years. Don't think I'll ever need to upgrade it.

Congratulations and enjoy flying!
I haven't received any tracking info so mine hasn't been shipped out yet.
Hope mine arrives soon!

Can somebody post pictures of the steadicam, especially distribution boxes, vest, cabling and so one. (not just the whole set) Thanks in advance.

I received mine last Friday and I am very happy with the quality of the product.
Here are some photos of my custom raptor (with many parts from RebelPro).

Looks nice - which parts did you get from the Rebel Pro?

Here is the list of the upgraded parts and that is the main reason why mine took so long time.

1. Main 10-pin Lemo sled cable instead of the 8-pin Raptor cable
2. RebelPro Powerbox for HD-SDI, Camera Power, and three 12V Acc power out
3. 19mm studio rod system for the monitor/battery instead of the 15mm rod system of Raptor
4. SwapPack 12V (double batteries) with 19mm rod mount for RebelPro
5. RebelPro monitor mount instead of the Raptor monitor mount
6. Rebel 19mm Pro gimbal mount for the arm
7. Rebel camera power adapter cable with 10-pin lemo female connector

I think that is it-)

nice mix. have seen Rebel in action (action cam in action :) ) on the set many times.
it is in deed well made. Did you got also 50 pound vest?

So somebody on the set can take pictures of their rig ?
Anyway while waiting for the call half the people are sitting with their phones. (etiquette or not ;)

Hey All,

Hope the raptors are all treating you well. Had a question, I got my extra weight plates for the bottom of the rig a while back and haven't quite figured out how to mount them to the monitor bracket and battery bracket... none of the included hardware is long enough the ways I've tried it. Anyone else have any luck?

Cheers

Is the idea for those weight plates just to be used to dial in the dynamic balance...?

Ruff - yeah managed the same... strange...

Steve - in my case when using lighter lenses or smaller kit my rig isn't quite heavy enough for the arm, thats where these weights come in for me. But when I build me camera out to an appropriate weight or throw a large zoom on then its usually no problem.

Hi Roy,

Which springs do you have on the Raptor?

I like the PAG's for linkable increased poser,, and weight, if needed.

Thank you very much

Fury

Hey Fury,

I'm running the heavy springs 14-35lbs

I use that with 160 watt batteries.

I've looked at the PAG but never got around to it, plus I'd feel it would throw the offset balance by stacking up a bunch of batteries on one side?

I have decided to sell my Raptor. (basically because I am just not using it).

If interested, send me an email. I am sure we can work out a good price.

Action Products Raptor for sale.
Brand new condition. Upgraded arm post.

ActionCam Raptor Setup - with Inventor Brian Goff, founder of ActionProducts

Hello everyone. I hope you have been enjoying the ActionCam Raptor. This is our first short tutorial video staring the ActionCam inventor himself, Brian Goff. Please click on the video below to watch Brian give a walk through on how to set-up the ActionCam Raptor.

ActionProducts ActionCam Raptor Pro setup demonstration by Brian Goff, the inventor of the ActionCam. Brian will walk you through a step by step process for rig & case organization, sled stage setup, sled monitor mount setup options, sled horizontal balancing, camera attachment, sled vertical balancing, back mounted vest fitting, and arm adjustment. In this video he will be using a RED EPIC camera setup decked out with all ActionProducts EPIC accessories as well. The total sled payload weight is about 30 pounds, with camera, batteries, accessories, etc. The naked sled is only 3.8 pounds. Brian Goff has been a camera operator for over 25 years. All this ideas and inventions for ActionProducts were inspired from his countless experiences on the field of professional filmmaking. The ActionCam Raptor is designed as a high quality option for systems weighing 8 - 38 pounds. For heavier rigs, weighing between 11 - 77lbs, the ActionCam Rebel is the solution.
